GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Situation. The Commandant’s Professional Reading
List (CPRL) is an essential tool for cultivating intellectual
readiness, professional development, and ethical leadership across
the Marine Corps. It supports the development of leaders who are
capable of meeting the evolving challenges of strategic competition,
warfighting, and institutional leadership. To ensure continued
relevance and value, the CPRL is periodically updated. This message
initiates the fiscal year (FY) 2026 update. Coinciding with the
250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps, this update
offers a timely opportunity to both honor the legacy of the Corps and
invest in the intellectual development of Marines who will carry it
forward into the next era.
2. Mission. Education Command will conduct a force-wide
solicitation for nominations of books, professional publications, and
podcasts to inform the next update of the Commandant’s Professional
Reading List. The intent is to gather diverse, high-quality
recommendations that contribute meaningfully to personal and
professional development for Marines at all ranks.
