Remarks/1. The purpose of this MARADMIN is to solicit qualified FY26
Marines with an End of Current Contract (ECC) or Reserve End of
Current Contract (RECC) between 01 Oct 2025  and 30 Sept 2026 to
apply for lateral move into Primary MOS (PMOS) 2336, Explosive
Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician. EOD is currently categorized
as a high demand, low density MOS and is expected to be in higher
demand during the coming years, particularly as the Marine Corps
conducts maritime operations within the littorals.
2. Marine Corps EOD mission: In accordance with references (a) and
(b), Marine Corps EOD provides support to the Marine Air Ground Task
Force (MAGTF), Supporting Establishment, Homeland Defense, Special
Operations Forces (SOF) and other US government agencies through
detecting, locating, accessing, diagnosing, rendering safe,
neutralizing, recovering, exploiting, and disposing of hazards from
Unexploded Explosive Ordnance (UXO), Improvised Explosive Devices
(IEDs), and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) that present a threat
to operations, installations, personnel, or materiel.
3. EOD lateral move applicants must meet the following criteria:
3.a. Must be a volunteer in the grade of sergeant or corporal
serving in any MOS.
3.b. Must possess a GT score of 110 or higher.
3.c. Must be a U.S. citizen.  Dual citizenship is not allowed.
3.d. Must be eligible for a top-secret security clearance based on a
completed Tier 5 investigation. Applications for the Tier 5
investigation must be submitted prior to attendance at EOD School.
3.e. Must be screened per ref (d).
3.f. Must have a first class PFT and CFT (both will be accomplished
during the EOD screening).
3.g. Must have normal color vision and no claustrophobic tendencies
(bomb suit agility test will be administered during the EOD
screening).
3.h. Must meet the medical requirements listed in article 15-107 of
NAVMED P-117 for explosive handler and explosive driver.
3.i. Prior to entry into EOD school, Marines must have
sufficient obligated service to allow for 36 months of service
following graduation.
4. FY26 Marines who desire a lateral move into the EOD MOS may
submit a package immediately after a favorable screening by EOD
personnel. These Marines do not have to wait until their current
PMOS boat spaces are closed out. Marines that are outside of the
FY26 reenlistment cohort, either before 01 October 2025 that have
not yet reenlisted or after 30 September 2026 may submit a waiver
for consideration to POC 2 for consideration of lateral move outside
of the requested parameters of this message.
5. Bonus payment for the lateral move will not be made at the time
of reenlistment. Upon successful completion of MOS training and
subsequent award of PMOS 2336, the bonus payment will be paid based
upon the FY26 SRB authorized at the time of reenlistment.
Additionally, a Corporal will receive a non-competitive promotion to
Sergeant in conjunction with a lateral move into EOD once minimum
TIG/TIS requirements are met.
6. Interested Marines should contact MARADMIN POC 2 and their Career
Counselor to ensure they meet the prerequisites in accordance with
the references. Marines meeting the prerequisites should contact
the closest Marine EOD unit to arrange for an EOD screening. After
successfully completing the screening, the Marine will receive a
recommendation that will be forwarded to Manpower Management
Enlisted Assignments by the Career Counselor via the Total Force
Retention System (TFRS).
7. Upon acceptance of the lateral move, Active Duty Marines will
normally receive On-the-Job-Training (OJT) orders to the closest
Marine EOD unit for a period of 30-90 days while waiting to execute
PCS orders to the Marine Corps Detachment, Naval School Explosive
Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD) Eglin AFB, FL for approximately
9 months of PMOS School. SMCR Marines will perform an inter-unit
transfer (IUT) to the closest reserve command with valid vacancy.
SMCR Marines must attend training with 12 months of lateral move
acceptance.  Failure to complete training in the allotted time will
result in revocation of lateral move approval and pertaining
incentives.
8. This MARADMIN is applicable to the Total Force.
9. Direct all questions to MARADMIN POCs.
