GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  This MARADMIN solicits applicants for
consideration on the FY26 Acquisition Primary Military Occupation
Specialty (PMOS) Selection Panel (ACQSP).
The ACQSP will select officers to serve in the PMOS of 8059 and
8061.The ACQSP will convene on or about 3 November 2025
aboard MCB Quantico.
Major Milestone Timeline (read in two columns):

1 Sept 2025: Applicants initiate records audit with
             Defense Aquistion Workforce Improvement
             Act (DAWIA) Specialist
1 Oct 2025: All applications due to MMOA-3
3 Nov 2025: Panel convenes
2.  Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM), as the executive
agent for acquisition training and education, will verify all
acquisition certifications, workforce experience, and academic
qualifications prior to convening the panel.
3.  Eligibility Criteria
3.a.  Be an unrestricted officer in the Active Component (AC),
in zone for major through lieutenant colonel with less than 24 years
of active commissioned service as of 1 June 2026.
3.b.  Not currently slated for command as a result
of the FY26 Command Screening Board.
3.c.  AC officers in joint billets are eligible only if they will
complete 24 months in their current assignment prior to the
detach date for their first 8059/8061 assignment.
3.d.  AC officers must be complete with their Commandant's
Career-Level Education Board or Commandant's Professional
Intermediate Board utilization tours by 1 October 2026.
3.e.  Applicants to either 8059 or 8061 may come from any
unrestricted PMOS. Previous PMOS/OccField and experience will be
considered when assigning 8059 or 8061. Experience in an aviation
MOS (60XX, 66XX, 72XX, 73XX, or 75XX) is highly weighted for the
8059 PMOS; applicants from outside those PMOS communities may
require a TECOM waiver, per NAVMC 1200.1H.
4.  Acquisition Experience Requirements
4.a.  All applicants will be considered, regardless of DAWIA
certification or previous acquisition experience. While previous
experience will be weighted in selection, the Marine Corps
desires officers with demonstrated leadership, passion for
developing and delivering capabilities, and a desire to work
in a dynamic cross-functional program office environment.
4.b.  If selected to an 8059 or 8061 PMOS, Marines must pursue
certification IAW current DAWIA requirements.
5.  Coordinating Instructions
5.a.  Selectees will incur a four-year service obligation from
the date of assignment to the 8059/8061 PMOS.
Selectees will receive permanent change of station or permanent
change of assignment orders to fill an 8059 or
8061 billet.
5.b.  Direct questions relating to the application
process to the listed MMOA-3 POCs.
5.c.  Direct questions relating to the Marine Acquisition Officer
(MAO) OccField Specialty to the respective MAO POCs.
6.  Application Instructions
6.a.  Applicants must initiate an acquisition records
audit with the USMC DAWIA Specialist listed above NLT 1 Sept 2025.
6.b.  Applications must be submitted via the NAVMC 10274
Administrative Action (AA) request form.
Applications must be endorsed by the first O6 commander
(O5 for independent commands) in the applicant’s chain of command.
Applicants should state preferred MOS, 8059 or 8061, in the AA Form.

6.c.  DAWIA career and training summary.
6.d.  DAWIA transcript, if applicable.
6.e.  Written or electronic correspondence from PMOS monitor
acknowledging applicant’s desire to lateral move and eligibility
to move in Summer 2026.
6.f.  Any letter(s) of recommendation.  Letters of recommendation
are not required; however, letters attesting to the applicant’s
future potential for acquisition command are beneficial.
6.g.  Additional supporting documents.  This would include
documentation related to acquisition qualification and/or
accomplishments not already on record. This would include
a copy of a project management professional certification
or other acquisition related professional certification/certificate
program. This could also include unofficial awards for work
in the DoD acquisition arena or supporting documentation
regarding an applicant’s participation on or in support of a
particular program.
6.h.  Application documents must be combined into a single Adobe PDF
prior to submission.  All applications that are not combined
will be returned.
6.i.  Applications must be labeled as
such: RANK_LAST NAME_EDIPI_ACQSP.

6.j.  Applications must be submitted to MMOA-3 at
smb_manpower_officer_programs@usmc.mil NLT 1 October 2025.
7.  This MARADMIN is not applicable to the Marine Corps Reserve.
