GENTEXT/SITUATION/1. Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is
a category of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that creates new
content – such as text, images, audio, or code – based on patterns
learned from existing data. GenAI is advancing rapidly and has
broad applicability to augment Marines across the spectrum of
functional areas and activities.
1.A. The character of war is increasingly defined by the speed and
accuracy of decision-making. As outlined in the references, the
Marine Corps’ ability to achieve cognitive overmatch – to out-think,
out-decide, and out-pace our adversaries – is critical to the
success of Force Design and our ability to prevail in
strategic competition.
1.B. The USMC Service Data Officer (SDO) Will convene a GenAI
Workshop to conduct hands-on, warfighter-focused evaluation of GenAI
and Large Language Models (LLMs) against real-world
Marine Corps challenges.
2. MISSION. From 17 TO 21 November 2025, The USMC SDO will conduct
a GenAI Workshop in Quantico, VA in order to understand high impact
use cases for GenAI from across the Service, provide an overview of
Joint and Industry GenAI solutions, and develop Courses of Action
(COAs) to maximize value for USMC integration.
3. EXECUTION.
3.A. COMMANDER'S INTENT. Produce actionable COAs for deploying GenAI
solutions that complement existing initiatives, maximize outcomes,
and enhance the warfighter.
3.B. CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS. The workshop is a five-day,
in-person event.
3.B.1. Day one and two will focus on introduction and Command GenAI
use case briefs.
3.B.2. Day three and four will consist of Joint and Industry partner
solution briefs, demos, and hands-on components.
3.B.3. Day five will focus on COA development and wrap-up.
3.C. The workshop schedule, read-aheads, as well as exact event
location, will be provided to confirmed attendees.
3.C. TASKS. Participating Commands are solicited to register Marines
and Civilians (GS-12 TO GS-15, O-3 TO O-6, CWO3 TO CWO5, E-7 TO E-9)
with demonstrated expertise in AI, AI-related fields, and relevant
stakeholders. Marines and Civilians that register will need to:
3.C.1. Submit GenAI use cases and be prepared to give a 10-15 min
brief to the workshop.
3.C.2. Have authorization to speak on behalf of the Command.
3.C.3. Be in support of a GenAI use case submission.
3.D. COORDINATING INSTRUCTIONS.
3.D.1. Workshop will be held from 17 to 21 November 2025 in
Quantico, VA.
3.D.2. Nominations are due NLT 30 October 2025.
3.D.3. Nomination packages should be submitted via the following
registration link - https://forms.osi.apps.mil/r/0H3DKaGPZw.
4. ADMIN AND LOGISTICS.
