GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  A Selection Board to recommend a judge advocate
(JA) of the Marine Corps for appointment as the Lead Special Trial
Counsel (LSTC) will be convened in accordance with sections 611 and
1044f of reference (a). In the event that the incumbent Assistant
Judge Advocate General of the Navy (AJAG) is selected as the LSTC,
an FY27 AJAG Selection Board will convene immediately after the LSTC
Selection Board to select a JA of the Marine Corps for appointment
as AJAG in accordance with section 8089 of reference (a).
The board(s) will convene at 2008 Elliot Road, Marine Corps Base,
Quantico, VA 22134, as follows:

2.  LSTC Selection Board.  The officers eligible for consideration
by the board must satisfy the following criteria:
2.a.  Be on the Active-Duty List (ADL) of the Marine Corps and have
a permanent grade of colonel with a date of rank of 1 October 2024
or earlier.
2.b.  Possess the 4402 (Judge Advocate) MOS.
2.c.  Be a member of a bar of a Federal court or the highest court 
of a state or territory.
2.d.  Have at least 8 years of experience in legal duties as a
commissioned officer, as of the convening date of the board.
2.e.  Do not have an established separation/retirement date that is
within 90 days after the convening date of the board.
3.  LSTC Selection Board Zones.  The board will consider officers in
two categories:  primary zone and secondary (below) zone.  The
primary zone will not include above-zone officers. The in-zone will
consist of judge advocates with a minimum of 30 months time-in-grade
as of the convening date of the board who will be considered for
selection as the LSTC from within the primary zone.  The below-zone
consists of judge advocates with a minimum of 12 months time-in-
grade as of the convening date of the board.  Officers with
questions regarding their eligibility for a board or their status in
reference (b) should follow the procedures set forth in reference
(c).  The zones are as follows:

4.  AJAG Selection Board.  The officers eligible for consideration
by the board must satisfy the following criteria:

earlier.
4.b.  Possess the 4402 (Judge Advocate) MOS.
4.c.  Be a member of a bar of a Federal court or the highest court
of a state or territory.
4.d.  Have at least 8 years of experience in legal duties as a
commissioned officer, as of the convening date of the board.
4.e.  Not be previously selected as the AJAG.
5. AJAG Selection Board Zones.  In the event that the Assistant
Judge Advocate General of the Navy incumbent is selected as the
LSTC, an FY27 Assistant Judge Advocate General of the Navy Selection
Board will convene immediately after the LSTC selection board.  The
AJAG board, if convened, will consider officers in two categories:
primary zone and secondary (below) zone.  The primary zone will not
include above-zone officers. The in-zone will consist of judge
advocates with a minimum of 30 months time-in-grade as of the
convening date of the board who will be considered for selection as
the AJAG from within the primary zone.  The below-zone consists of
judge advocates with a minimum of twelve months time-in-grade as of
the convening date of the AJAG board. Officers with questions
regarding their eligibility for a board or their status in reference
(b) should follow the procedures set forth in reference (c).  The

6.  Board Preparation Guidance.  Officers are advised to review
MARADMIN 108/25 for guidance regarding submission of information,
auditing the Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) and Master
Brief Sheet (MBS), fitness reports, deferment of eligibility, and
requests for non-selection prior to the convening date of the
board.  Officers may review reference (c) at the Officer Promotion
homepage.  Although mentioned in reference (c), the following
guidance is provided:
7.  Personal responsibilities.  Each officer is personally
responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of their
OMPF and MBS before the date the board convenes.  Refer to reference
(c) for information on obtaining and reviewing your OMPF and fitness
report submission guidelines and timelines.
8.  Board Correspondence.  All eligible officers may, if
desired, submit correspondence to the President of the Board.
8.a. LSTC and AJAG Board.  Officers who desire to have the same
correspondence considered by both the LSTC Board and AJAG board
should address their correspondence to: Board President, FY27 LSTC
and AJAG Selection Boards.
8.b. LSTC Board.  Separate correspondence to be considered only by
the LSTC board should be addressed to: FY27 LSTC Promotion Selection
Board.
8.c. AJAG Board.  Separate correspondence to be considered only by
the AJAG board should be addressed to: FY27 AJAG Selection Board. 
8.d. Correspondence Submission.  All correspondence must be received
NLT 10 calendar days prior to the convening date.  Late
correspondence will not be accepted.  Refer to paragraph 8 of
reference (c) for more detailed information on the proper submission
of board correspondence.  Completed correspondence may be submitted
