GENTEXT/REMARKS /1. PURPOSE. This MARADMIN announces the GenAI.mil
as the Marine Corps enterprise generative artificial intelligence
(GenAI) platform. This MARADMIN supersedes MARADMIN 496/24.
2. BACKGROUND.  The Department of War has fielded GenAI.mil as
the enterprise platform for the Department. In accordance with
references A and B, the Marine Corps will consolidate all
duplicative, general-purpose GenAI usage onto the GenAI.mil
platform to optimize resources and standardize user experience.
3. EXECUTION.
3.a. Platform Availability. GenAI.mil is authorized for immediate
use by all Marines, civilians, and contractors using
government-furnished equipment. The platform is approved for
processing Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). It is not
approved for handling Personally Identifiable Information
(PII),Protected Health Information (PHI), or classified
information.
3.b. Capabilities.
3.b.1. Current Capabilities: The platform offers a conversational
chat interface, supports file upload (PDF, DOCX, TXT), provides
Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) for sourcing answers from
provided documents, secure web grounding, deep research, and
allows users to organize conversations with persistent
chat histories.
3.b.2. Future Capabilities: The GenAI.mil platform will undergo
continuous development. Planned future enhancements include
availability of GenAI.mil on networks of higher classification, the
integration of Marine Corps data sources, agentic AI development
solutions, and API access for integration with other enterprise
systems. The timeline for future features is under development.
3.c. User Responsibility and Accountability. GenAI tools are
non-deterministic and may produce inaccurate, biased, or
incomplete information. All personnel are responsible for
critically evaluating and verifying any output from GenAI.mil
before using it for official purposes in accordance with
reference D. The user is accountable for any products derived
from the system.
3.d. Login and Support.
3.d.1. Login URL: https://genai.mil
3.d.2. Technical Support: Users should follow a tiered
approach for support.
3.d.2.a. Platform Issues: For issues directly related
to the GenAI.mil platform
(e.g., system errors, functionality questions), contact
the primary help desk at osw.genai@mail.mil.
3.d.2.b. Feedback/General Inquiries: For general feedback
or inquiries, contact the OSW Pentagon CDAO Mailbox at
osw.genai@mail.mil.
3.d.2.c. Unresolved Issues: If resolution is not obtained
through the methods above, contact the MARADMIN POCs for
further assistance.
3.d.3. Training Resources: Self-help training resources
are available at https://genai.mil/resources/training.
3.d.4. Answers to common frequently asked questions can
be found at https://genai.mil/resources/faq.
4. GOVERNANCE.
4.a. Centralized Authority. Deputy Commandant for Information
(DC I) is the designated authority for the governance and
oversight of all GenAI capabilities within the Marine Corps.
Any command or organization seeking to develop, procure, or
field a separate GenAI capability must coordinate with and
receive approval from DC I prior to initiation. This ensures
all efforts are interoperable, secure, and not duplicative.
4.b. NIPRGPT is in the process of sunsetting as a platform
and will no longer be available for use.
4.c. This MARADMIN does not strictly limit the use of other
GenAI platforms and systems by Marines.
GenAI systems (e.g. CamoGPT and others) that meet the
requirements for use on government systems continue to be
authorized for their intended and approved purpose.
5. Direct all questions regarding this MARADMIN
to the designated POCs.
6. Release authorized by Lieutenant General M. G. Carter,
Headquarters Marine Corps, Deputy Commandant for Information.//
