GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Headquarters United States Marine Corps (HQMC)
Semper Fit seeks applications for the Elite Warrior Athlete program.
2.  Background.  The Elite Warrior Athlete program, formerly known
as the Exceptional Athlete program, enables Marine athletes to
compete at higher-level sport and athletic tryouts and competitions
(e.g., National/World Championships, Olympic Trials,
invitationals).  The intended participants are highly qualified
athletes interested in participating in individual sports outside of
the scope of the All-Marine Sports program.  Although it is not all
inclusive, a list of eligible sports can be found at
https://armedforcessports.defense.gov/Sports/.
3.  To be considered for participation, prospective athlete
applications for all sports include scores for the following
All-Marine Sports standard testing events:  three repetition maximum
(RM) hex-bar or barbell deadlift, bench press, and squat; one RM
broad jump and pro-agility test; and times for the three mile and
880-yard events from the most recent fitness tests.
4.  The application form and detailed information on how to complete
the standard testing events can be found at
https://www.usmc-mccs.org/allmarinesports.  Please email completed
applications to allmarinesports@usmc-mccs.org.
5.  In addition to standard performance and skill testing events,
it is highly recommended that applicants provide proof of prior
competitive experience in their respective sport (e.g., high
school, collegiate, Olympic, etc.) along with any awards or
recognition received.
6.  Commanding Officer approval is needed for all Marine
applicants to participate. Commanding officers are strongly
encouraged to endorse Elite Warrior Athlete applicants who
demonstrate Marine Corps core values and are expected to
enhance the reputation of the United States Marine Corps.  An Elite
Warrior Athlete exemplifies pride in our Armed Forces while
providing the Marine Corps national/international visibility.
Approved participants are assigned Temporary Additional Duty status,
though commanders may contact HQMC Semper Fit to recall participants
if necessary.
7.  HQMC Semper Fit funds the costs associated with these events
based on financial feasibility, competitive level (e.g., national,
regional, world), and ranking within the sport/nation/world.
8.  This MARADMIN applies to the Active Component, members of the
Selected Marine Corps Reserve, and Marines on Active Duty
Operational Support orders.
9.  Release authorized by Lieutenant General William J. Bowers,
Deputy Commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.//
