GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Purpose. This MARADMIN provides guidance for
the resumption of recording body composition data in the Marine
Corps Training Information Management System (MCTIMS). Except for
the changes listed below, all details, instructions, and guidance
contained in references (a) and (b) remain in effect.
2. Execution. All body composition evaluations conducted since 26
February 2026 (i.e., the release of reference (a)) will be recorded
and certified in MCTIMS via the Unit Training module. Units are
responsible for recording body composition evaluations for all
Marines who conducted the requirement during the first semi-annual
period while assigned to the unit, regardless if the Marine is no
longer assigned to the unit. Units will certify backdated
scoresheets no later than 4 September 2026. Extension requests
require O-6 endorsement and will be routed via Enterprise Task
Management Software Solution (ETMS2) to the following ETMS2
addressee: “USMC TECOM” for adjudication.
2.a. MCTIMS Scoresheets. The service-level requirement is titled
“Semi-annual Body Composition Evaluation” and can be found in the
Individual Training tab of the Individual Marine Management
dropdown.
2.a.1. Waist. Enter the final waist measurement (i.e., the lower
of the two measurements conducted by the designated evaluator)
rounded down to the nearest 1/2 inch. Units will enter waist
measurements as XX.X to include values that end in zero. Example:
A waist of 33.25 will be entered as 33.0; a waist of 33.5 will be
entered as 33.5.
2.a.2. Height. Enter height in inches, rounded down to the nearest
1/2 inch. Units will enter height measurements as XX.X to include
values that end in zero. Example: A height of 70.25 will be entered
as 70.0; a height of 70.5 will be entered as 70.5.
2.a.3. Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR). MCTIMS will compute and
display the resulting WHtR. Any value that exceeds 0.52000 will be
flagged as out of standards and require at least one body fat value
to be entered.
2.a.4. Weight. While weight is no longer used to determine if a
Marine is in standards, weight will continue to be measured and
entered into MCTIMS until further notice. If units failed to record
weight measurements during the first semi-annual period in
accordance with reference (a), they will enter “75” when entering
backdated evaluations in MCTIMS.
2.a.5. Body Fat. Marines who exceed WHtR and conduct a body fat
evaluation in accordance with reference (a) are required to enter at
least one body fat measurement in the scoresheet. The scoresheet
will flag if the alternative method is required to be entered.
Marines must click outside of the data entry box for scoresheet
flags to disappear.
2.a.5.a. Physical performance considerations outlined in reference
(a) remain in effect. MCTIMS scoresheets will not account for
PFT / CFT scores when flagging Marines’ body fat. Personnel
overseeing body composition evaluations will reference a Marine’s
Basic Training Record via Marine Online (MOL) and reference (a) to
determine if they rate additional body fat allowances and are in
standards. Units will not subtract body fat from a Marine’s
measured body fat to artificially make the Marine appear in
standards in MCTIMS.
2.a.6. Tape Body Fat. If conducted, the resulting percentage will
be entered as X or XX. If the tape test was not conducted, leave
the field blank.
2.a.7. BIA Body Fat. If conducted, the resulting percentage will
be entered as XX.X. Ensure the exact value listed on the BIA
assessment printout is entered, to include the decimal value (i.e.,
do not round the body fat percentage listed on the printout). If
the BIA was not conducted, leave the field blank.
2.a.7.a. When BIA is conducted, enter the skeletal muscle mass
(SMM) and lean body mass (LBM) as provided on the BIA assessment
printout. These two values will only be used for data collection
purposes and not to determine if a Marine is in standards. For
evaluations conducted prior to the release of this MARADMIN, these
two values will be entered as available but are not required; if
unavailable, the unit will enter “00”. From the release of this
MARADMIN until 1 September 2026, units will enter “00” for LBM due
to MCTIMS system limitations.
2.b. Certification. MCTIMS scoresheets will continue to be
submitted and certified in accordance with reference (b).
2.c. Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS). No certified body
composition evaluation data will be populated from MCTIMS into
MOL / MCTFS as the system is still undergoing updates. Additional
notification and guidance will be published once pertinent
information systems are online.
3. Accountability. Failure to complete a semi-annual body
composition evaluation requirement will continue to be
administratively adjudicated in accordance with references (e) and
(f) and may result in an adverse evaluation in accordance with
reference (d).
4. Exemptions. In accordance with reference (b), pregnancy,
post-partum, and pregnancies that are not carried to full term are
the only authorized exemption from conducting the semi-annual body
composition evaluation requirement.
5. Waivers. In accordance with reference (b), the semi-annual body
composition evaluation requirement is non-waivable. Waivers for
assignment to BCP or management of a BCP program may still be sought
through the chain of command as defined in reference (b).
6. BCP Periodic Evaluations.
6.a. Active Component. Active units conducting weekly assessments
for Marines assigned to BCP will continue to track weight in
addition to WHtR. Weight may show more measurable variance week to
week which allows for more comprehensive progress monitoring.
Changes in weight may be observed before changes in waist
measurement.
6.b. Reserve Component. Reserve units will conduct the above
periodic assessment when practicable.
9. Release authorized by LtGen Thomas B. Savage, Deputy Commandant
for Training and Education.//
