GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  CONGRATULATIONS ON ACHIEVING THE FY05 FIRST TERM
ALIGNMENT PLAN (FTAP) AND SUBSEQUENT TERM ALIGNMENT PLAN (STAP).
2.  LAST FISCAL YEAR, YOU ATTAINED 103.5 PERCENT OF THE FTAP GOAL BY
REENLISTING 6,159 MARINES AGAINST THE GOAL OF 5,950, WHILE ACHIEVING
A 96 PERCENT MOS MATCH.  THIS IS NO SMALL ACCOMPLISHMENT.  YOU ALSO
ATTAINED 138.5 PERCENT OF THE STAP GOAL OF 5,079 BY REENLISTING
7,032 MARINES APPROACHING THEIR SECOND AND THIRD REENLISTMENT.
ACHIEVING OUR CAREER FORCE GOAL KEEPS EXPERIENCED MARINES IN THE
CORPS AND ENSURES OUR JUNIOR MARINES HAVE THE SEASONED NCO AND SNCO
MENTORSHIP TO RELY UPON.
3.  THIS RETENTION SUCCESS OCCURRED DUE TO THE EXEMPLARY EFFORTS OF
MARINE NCOS, SNCOS AND OFFICERS.  YOUR POSITIVE LEADERSHIP COUPLED
WITH THE EFFORTS OF CAREER RETENTION SPECIALISTS WAS CRUCIAL IN
HELPING COMMANDERS RETAIN THE MOST QUALIFIED MARINES.
4.  OUR FY06 RETENTION GOAL IS NO DIFFERENT THAN PAST YEARS.  FOCUS
YOUR EFFORTS ON EVERY ELIGIBLE MARINE, TO INCLUDE SPOUSES AND
FAMILIES.  THE FY06 SELECTIVE REENLISTMENT BONUS PROGRAM HAS
RECEIVED IMMENSE ATTENTION AND REFLECTS OUR DESIRE TO RETAIN THE
MOST QUALIFIED MARINES.  IT IS IMPORTANT YOU ACHIEVE THIS YEAR'S
RETENTION GOALS AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE.  YOUR CONTINUING SUPPORT TO
REENLIST THE WHOLE MARINE TEAM IS IMPORTANT TO OUR CORPS' FUTURE.
5.  WELL DONE ON SURPASSING THE FY05 FTAP AND STAP GOALS, AND BEST
WISHES FOR FY06 RETENTION GOALS.
6.  SEMPER FIDELIS AND KEEP ATTACKING, M. W. HAGEE, GENERAL, U.S.
