GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  SUMMARY: THIS MARADMIN SOLICITS NOMINEES FOR TWO HBS/AMP COURSES: FALL, 3 SEP TO 25 OCT 2012 AND SPRING, 1 APR TO 23 MAY 2013.  THE PROGRAM IS CONDUCTED AT THE HBS, BOSTON, MA.  NOMINEES IN THE RANK OF LTCOL (NOT NEWLY SELECTED) AND COL WITH DEMONSTRATED STRONG LEADERSHIP AND POTENTIAL FOR SENIOR LEVEL ASSIGNMENTS IN ANY MOS ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY.  WHILE A BACKGROUND IN BUSINESS/FINANCE IS DESIRABLE, THE POTENTIAL TO LEAD LARGE ORGANIZATIONS IS THE CRITICAL ELEMENT.  FINAL SELECTION WILL BE BY THE CMC.
2.  BACKGROUND
A.  THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF THE TIMOTHY T. DAY FOUNDATION, INC., TWO MARINE OFFICERS IN THE RANK OF LTCOL OR COL WILL ATTEND THE HBS/AMP PROGRAM ANNUALLY.  COURSES ARE CONDUCTED IN THE FALL AND SPRING OF EACH YEAR.  THE AMP PROVIDES HIGH POTENTIAL SENIOR EXECUTIVES AN INTENSE AND UNIQUE LEARNING COURSE FOCUSED ON STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP.
B.  WHILE AMP HAS A BUSINESS/FINANCE LEADERSHIP FOCUS, THE MARINE CORPS FOCUS IS TO SELECT PROVEN LEADERS WHO WILL LEAD LARGE COMMANDS IN AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE.  AS SUCH, AN ACADEMIC OR WORK RELATED BACKGROUND IN BUSINESS/FINANCE IS BENEFICIAL BUT NOT ESSENTIAL FOR SELECTION.
3.  SELECTION PROCESS.  NOMINATIONS WILL BE SUBMITTED TO THE POC NLT 31 JUL AND INCLUDE RESPONSES TO THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN PARAGRAPH 4 BELOW.  SCANNED NOMINATION PACKAGES ARE ACCEPTABLE.  UPON RECEIPT OF NOMINATIONS, THE PRESIDENT, MARINE CORPS UNIVERSITY WILL CONVENE A SCREENING BOARD AND FORWARD THE MOST COMPETITIVE NOMINEES TO THE CMC FOR SELECTION.

C.  UNDERGRAD AND GRADUATE DEGREES TO INCLUDE DISCIPLINE, DEGREE, GRADE POINT AVERAGE, COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY, YEAR GRADUATED.  TRANSCRIPTS ARE NOT REQUIRED.
D.  A NARRATIVE DESCRIBING LINKAGE BETWEEN AMP CURRICULUM AND CURRENT/POTENTIAL ASSIGNMENTS; HIGHLIGHT BENEFITS OF THE CANDIDATE'S PARTICIPATION TO THE MARINE CORPS.
E.  NOMINEE'S RELATED EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND TO ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND/OR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, PRACTICES AND APPLICATIONS.
F.  INDICATE AVAILABILITY AND PREFERENCE FOR THE FALL 2012 AND/OR SPRING 2013 AMP PROGRAM.
