GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  FY12-02 TPS SELECTION BOARD WILL CONVENE ON OR ABOUT 3 AUG 2012. THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 23 JUL 2012.
2.  FY12-02 TPS SELECTION BOARD WILL CONSIDER APPLICANTS FOR ASSIGNMENT TO USNTPS CLASS NUMBER 144 CONVENING IN JAN 2013 AND CLASS NUMBER 145 CONVENING IN JUL 2013.
3.  ALL AVIATORS FROM EVERY TYPE-MODEL-SERIES MOS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY.
4.  THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA FOR APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY WILL BE USED:
    A. APPLICANTS WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION:
       (1) BE A REGULAR COMMISSIONED OFFICER ON ACTIVE DUTY IN THE GRADE OF CAPTAIN THROUGH MAJOR.
       (2) BE A DESIGNATED NAVAL AVIATOR OR NAVAL FLIGHT OFFICER.
       (3) A MINIMUM OF 1,000 FLIGHT HOURS BY PROJECTED CLASS CONVENING DATE.
       (4) SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF COLLEGE PHYSICS OR MECHANICS AND COLLEGE LEVEL MATHEMATICS THROUGH CALCULUS. A BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN ENGINEERING, PHYSICAL SCIENCE, COMPUTER SCIENCE, OR MATHEMATICS FIELDS IS HIGHLY DESIRABLE.
    B. APPLICANTS WHO ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION:
       (1) OFFICERS PASSED FOR PROMOTION.
       (2) OFFICERS WHO HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE MINIMUM TIME ON STATION REQUIREMENTS (36 MONTHS CONUS, 24 MONTHS UNACCOMPANIED OCONUS, 36 MONTHS ACCOMPANIED OCONUS) BY 1 JAN 2013 FOR CLASS 144 AND 1 JUL 2013 FOR CLASS 145.
       (3) OFFICERS SERVING ON A JOINT TOUR THAT HAVE NOT MET THE MINIMUM TIME ON STATION REQUIREMENTS AT LEAST THREE MONTHS PRIOR TO CLASS CONVENING DATE.
5.  ELIGIBILITY WAIVERS. ALL WAIVERS WILL BE PROCESSED DURING THE SELECTION BOARD. THE REQUIREMENT FOR A WAIVER SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A DISQUALIFIER FOR FAVORABLE ENDORSEMENTS BY THE CHAIN OF COMMAND.
    A. FLIGHT HOUR WAIVERS MAY BE GRANTED BY THE SELECTION BOARD IN SPECIAL CASES WHERE UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL QUALIFICATIONS EXIST.
    B. TIME ON STATION WAIVERS WILL BE CONSIDERED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH AT LEAST 24 MONTHS TIME ON STATION.
       (1) IF A WAIVER IS REQUIRED, IT MUST BE ANNOTATED ON THE AA FORM AND ROUTED THROUGH THE ENDORSING CHAIN WITH THE APPLICATION FOR APPROVAL IN ACCORDANCE WITH REF (B).
       (2) IF A WAIVERED OFFICER IS SELECTED, MMOA WILL ATTEMPT TO BACKFILL THE VACATED BILLET; HOWEVER, THE APPLICANT'S COMMAND MAY INCUR A VACANCY IF A BACKFILL IS NOT AVAILABLE.
6.  APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS.
    A. AA FORM ENDORSED THROUGH THE APPLICANTS CHAIN OF COMMAND TO THE FIRST GENERAL OR FLAG OFFICER IN NAVAL LETTER FORMAT ON COMMAND LETTERHEAD.
       (1) COMMAND ENDORSEMENTS SHOULD SPECIFICALLY ADDRESS THE FLYING ABILITIES AND AVIATION LEADERSHIP QUALITIES OF THE APPLICANT.
       (2) IN THE EVENT AN OFFICER SUBMITS AN APPLICATION AND IS SUBSEQUENTLY TRANSFERRED, ENDORSEMENTS FROM THE GAINING COMMAND SHALL ALSO BE FORWARDED.
       (3) THE DESIRED AA FORM TEMPLATE IS AVAILABLE IN DIGITAL FORM FROM THE EXECUTIVE OFFICER, MARINE AVIATION DETACHMENT, PATUXENT RIVER LISTED IN PARA (10).
    B. AA FORM ENCLOSURES:
       (1) 1-PAGE APPLICANT AUTOBIOGRAPHY. SUMMARIZE MILITARY AND SCHOOL EXPERIENCE, OPERATIONAL, FLIGHT AND LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE, AS WELL AS OTHER NOTEWORTHY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES THAT WOULD BE OF INTEREST TO THE SELECTION BOARD.
       (2) LEGIBLE COPIES OF OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT(S). THEREIS NO REQUIREMENT TO HAVE OFFICIAL COPIES SENT DIRECTLY TO THE SELECTION BOARD FROM THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS. TRANSCRIPT(S) MUST SHOW TYPE OF DEGREE CONFERRED AND DATE CONFERRED. DO NOT SUBMIT COPIES OF DIPLOMAS.
       (3) LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION (MAXIMUM OF THREE)
    C. CURRENT PHOTO (WITHIN 1 YEAR) CONTAINED IN THEIR OMPF.
7.  APPLICATION PROCEDURES.
    A. THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS 23 JUL 2012.
    B. THE COMPLETED AND ENDORSED APPLICATION SHALL BE SUBMITTED DIGITALLY (PDF) TO THE EXECUTIVE OFFICER, MARINE AVIATION DETACHMENT, PATUXENT RIVER AT JUSTIN.EGGSTAFF@NAVY.MIL.
