GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  ALL CIVILIAN MARINES ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2012 EMPLOYEE VIEWPOINT SURVEY (EVS), SPONSORED BY THE OFFICE OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT (OPM).  THE EVS IS A TOOL USED TO MEASURE FEDERAL EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND WORKFORCE SATISFACTION.  PARTICIPATION IN THE SURVEY IS VOLUNTARY. IT WILL PROVIDE ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE FEEDBACK RELATED TO CAREER OPPORTUNITIES, LEADERSHIP, PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT, DIVERSITY, AND WORK LIFE PROGRAMS.  ALL RESPONSES ARE CONFIDENTIAL.
2.  THE SURVEY WILL BEGIN THE WEEK OF 21 MAY 2012 THROUGH THE END OF JUNE 2012.  IN THE PAST, THIS SURVEY WAS ADMINISTERED ONLY TO A SMALL, RANDOMLY SELECTED GROUP OF CIVILIAN MARINES.  THIS YEAR THE SURVEY POPULATION WAS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL APPROPRIATED AND NON-APPROPRIATED FUND EMPLOYEES WITHIN THE USMC.
3.  SURVEY RESULTS WILL BE USED TO HELP MEASURE PROGRESS AND DRAFT IMPROVEMENT TOWARD ACHIEVING OUR STRATEGIC GOALS AND INITIATIVES IDENTIFIED IN THE CIVILIAN WORKFORCE STRATEGIC PLAN (CWSP).  MAJOR COMMANDS WILL RECEIVE SURVEY RESULTS FOR THEIR INDIVIDUAL COMMANDS.  AGGREGATE USMC RESULTS WILL BE PUBLISHED ON THE MANPOWER AND RESERVE AFFAIRS (MRA) WEBSITE IN LATE NOVEMBER 2012.
4.  EMPLOYEES WITH OFFICIAL USMC EMAIL ACCOUNTS WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL INVITATION WITH SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY ONLINE.  FOR EMPLOYEES WHO DO NOT HAVE OFFICIAL USMC EMAIL ACCOUNTS, PAPER SURVEYS WILL BE MAILED TO THEIR HOME ADDRESS WITH INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE SURVEY.
5.  ALL SUPERVISORS AND MANAGERS SHOULD ENSURE THAT EMPLOYEES ARE PROVIDED THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY DURING REGULAR WORKING HOURS.
6.  COMMAND LEADERS ARE ASKED TO ANNOUNCE THE SURVEY AND ENCOURAGE CIVILIAN EMPLOYEE PARTICIPATION.  EMPLOYEE PARTICIPATION IS CRITICAL TO THE SUCCESS OF THE SURVEY.  THE RESULTS WILL HELP THE MARINES CORPS FOCUS ON IMPORTANT WORKFORCE INITIATIVES.
