GENTEXT/RMKS/1.  THE DEPUTY COMMANDANT FOR COMBAT DEVELOPMENT AND INTEGRATION HAS PUBLISHED A NEW MCRP 3-17.7M, CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATING, DATED DECEMBER 2010.  MCRP 3-17.7M IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD VIA THE USMC DOCTRINE WEBSITE AT HTTPS:SLASHSLASHWWW.DOCTRINE.USMC.MIL.
2.  BACKGROUND.  THIS PUBLICATION IS A MULTI-SERVICE PUBLICATION THAT PROVIDES UNIFORM GUIDANCE TO DESCRIBE COMMON METHODS, PROCEDURES, FORMATS, AND TECHNICAL DATA FOR THE PREPARATION OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ESTIMATES FOR GENERAL ENGINEERING AND CONTINGENCY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT PERFORMED BY MILITARY ENGINEER UNITS.  APPLICABLE TACTICS, TECHNIQUES AND PROCEDURES FROM OTHER SERVICE MANUALS HAVE BEEN INCORPORATED.  THE OVERALL INTENT IS TO PROVIDE A SINGLE-SOURCE, INFORMATIVE REFERENCE FOR MARINE CORPS CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATING.
3.  COORDINATING INSTRUCTIONS.  REF A DETAILS STEPS REQUIRED TO REQUEST PUBLICATION HARD COPIES.  UNITS WOULD NORMALLY RECEIVE PRINTED COPIES OF MCRP 3-17.7M VIA THE MARINE CORPS PUBLICATIONS DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM (MCPDS).  HOWEVER, THIS PUBLICATION WILL BE ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ONLY UNLESS USING UNITS SUBMIT COMPELLING NEED JUSTIFICATION FOR PRINTED COPIES.  UNITS REQUIRING PRINT ALLOCATIONS MUST FOLLOW PROCEDURES IDENTIFIED IN REF (A), PARAGRAPH 4A(2).  FOR MCPDS IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES, THE PUBLICATION CONTROL NUMBER IS: 144 000200 00
