GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. PURPOSE. THE PURPOSE OF THIS MESSAGE IS TO SOLICIT USMC NOMINATIONS FOR THE FY2011 DOD (CIO) AWARDS PROGRAM.
2. BACKGROUND. THE DOD CIO AWARDS PROGRAM RECOGNIZES INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN AT LEAST ONE OF THE KEY AREAS OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN REF A. KEY AREAS ARE: ENTERPRISE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (IM)/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT)/INFORMATION ASSURANCE (IA)/CYBER SECURITY (CS)/INFORMATION RESOURCES MANAGEMENT (IRM) SERVICES; ACQUISITION; ARCHITECTURE AND INTEROPERABLE INFRASTRUCTURE; IDENTITY AND INFORMATION ASSURANCE, AND CYBER SECURITY (INCLUDING MOBILITY); IT/IA/IRM OPERATIONS (INCLUDING CONSOLIDATION, CLOUD COMPUTING, ETC.); CAPITAL PLANNING AND INVESTMENT CONTROL; IM/IT/IA/CS/IRM WORKFORCE; IM/IT/IA/CS/IRM STANDARDS; DATA MANAGEMENT/INFORMATION SHARING. NOMINEES ARE JUDGED ON HOW THEIR ACTIONS RESULTED IN IMPROVED ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE, SAVED MONEY OR POSITIVELY IMPACTED THEIR ORGANIZATION'S MISSION. 3. ELIGIBILITY. BASED ON THE DOD CIO CRITERIA NOMINEES MAY BE AN INDIVIDUAL (GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE, CIVILIAN OR MILITARY) OR A GROUP FROM ANY ORGANIZATION IN DOD OTHER THAN DOD CIO (GROUP LEAD MUST BE A GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE, CIVILIAN OR MILITARY). TARGET IS BELOW THE SES AND FLAG OFFICER LEVEL.
4. NOMINATIONS SUBMISSION. FORMAT: 1 PAGE (8.5" BY 11", ONE SIDE, 11 POINT TYPE MINIMUM, 0.75" MARGINS ALL AROUND MINIMUM), BULLETIZED POINT PAPER PER NOMINEE DESCRIBING THE WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY AND HOW MUCH IF APPLICABLE, AND IMPACT ON DOD'S MISSION AND/OR PEOPLE. QUALIFIED ACHIEVEMENT(S) IS KEY. USMC NOMINATIONS MUST INCLUDE NOMINATOR CONTACT INFORMATION. USMC NOMINATION PACKAGES MUST BE RECEIVED BY HQMC C4 BY COB ON 17 AUGUST 2011. COMMAND (GENERAL OFFICER) ENDORSEMENTS ON NOMINATION PACKAGES ARE NOT REQUIRED.
