REF C IS SECDEF MEMO TITLED DIRECT GROUND COMBAT DEFINITION AND ASSIGNMENT RULE. REF D IS TITLE 10 CONGRESSIONAL REQUIREMENT TO REPORT PROPROSED CHANGES IN UNITS, ASSIGNMENTS ETC. TO WHICH FEMALE MEMBERS MAY BE ASSIGNED.

GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  PURPOSE. TO ANNOUNCE POLICY CHANGE TO REF A (REVISING MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALITIES CLOSED TO WOMEN).
2.  PER REFS B AND C, SERVICES WERE DIRECTED TO EXPAND THE NUMBER OF ASSIGNMENTS AVAILABLE TO WOMEN. AT THAT TIME, THE MOS'S OF 0210 (COUNTER INTELLIGENCE AND HUMAN SOURCE INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS OFFICER) AND 0211 (COUNTER INTELLIGENCE AND HUMAN SOURCE INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST) WERE CLOSED TO WOMEN AND REMAINED CLOSED UNTIL RECENTLY. 
3.  SUBJECT TO THE LIMITATIONS OF REF C AND IAW REF D THE MOS'S STATED IN PARGRAPH 2 ARE DESIGNATED AS GENDER NEUTRAL AND ARE OPEN TO ALL QUALIFIED AND ELIGIBLE MARINES.   
4.  MARINES SHOULD CONTACT THEIR UNIT CAREER RETENTION COUNSELERS FOR LATERAL MOVE OPPORTUNITIES.
5.  THIS MESSAGE IS APPLICABLE TO THE TOTAL FORCE.
6.  REF A WILL BE REVISED ACCORDINGLY.
