GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. PURPOSE.  WEATHER IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION IN FEBRUARY 2010 FORCED A POSTPONEMENT OF THE GROUND LOGISTICS BOARD AND AWARDS DINNER. THIS MESSAGE ANNOUNCES THE RE-CONVENING OF THE GROUND LOGISTICS BOARD FROM 25-27 MAY 2010 AT THE SHERATON NATIONAL HOTEL ARLINGTON, VA, AND THE GROUND LOGISTICS AWARDS DINNER ON 10 JUNE 2010 AT THE HILTON ALEXANDRIA MARK CENTER, VA.
2. BACKGROUND.  COMMUNICATION AND REPRESENTATION OF OPERATING FORCE REQUIREMENTS AND INTERESTS WITHIN HEADQUARTERS MARINE CORPS AND THE COMBAT DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM IS INCREASED THROUGH THE ADVOCACY PROCESS.  DEPUTY COMMANDANT, INSTALLATIONS AND LOGISTICS (DC, IL) IS ASSIGNED AS THE LOGISTICS COMBAT ELEMENT (LCE) ADVOCATE.  THE GROUND LOGISTICS BOARD MEETS ANNUALLY TO PROVIDE SENIOR LEADERSHIP (GO/SES) AN OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS CURRENT AND FUTURE LOGISTICS INITIATIVES, ADDRESS EMERGENT LCE ISSUES, AND SHAPE LOGISTICS EQUITIES WITHIN THE PLANNING, PROGRAMMING, BUDGETING AND EXECUTION PROCESS.
3. THE INTENT OF THE GROUND LOGISTICS BOARD IS TO DEVELOP A CLEAR AND CONSISTENT MESSAGE BY ARTICULATING LOGISTICS PRIORITIES WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THE MARINE CORPS SERVICE CAMPAIGN PLAN AND THE SUPPORTING LOGISTICS ROADMAP AS WE DRIVE TO ENHANCE FUTURE LOGISTICS CAPABILITIES.  FURTHER, THE MAY GROUND LOGISTICS BOARD WILL SYNCHRONIZE THE EFFORTS OF THE LCE AS WE IMPROVE MAGTF LOGISTICS CAPABILITIES AND MEET COMBATANT COMMANDERS' REQUIREMENTS.
4. METHOD.  THE GROUND LOGISTICS BOARD IS THE VENUE TO MEET AND DISCUSS CONCERNS AND RECOMMEND COURSES OF ACTION DERIVED FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2009 O-6 LEVEL MAGTF LOGISTICS OPERATIONAL ADVISORY GROUP (OAG).  THE DIRECTOR, LOGISTICS PLANS, POLICIES, AND STRATEGIC MOBILITY DIVISION (DIR LP), IL, SERVES AS THE GROUND LOGISTICS BOARD FACILITATOR. OTHER GENERAL OFFICERS, SENIOR EXECUTIVE SERVICE MEMBERS, HEADQUARTERS, AGENCIES, AND/OR DON REPRESENTATIVES ARE INVITED AND WELCOMED TO ATTEND THE GROUND LOGISTICS BOARD SESSIONS AS APPROPRIATE TO THE SPECIFIC AGENDA TOPIC.
