GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  FOR MANY YEARS MARINE BARRACKS 8TH AND I, OFFICIALLY KNOWN AS MARINE BARRACKS WASHINGTON (MBW), HAS REQUIRED SPECIFIC TYPES OF HIGH CALIBER OFFICERS FOR ASSIGNMENT TO POSITIONS OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL VISIBILITY.  ON 10 SEP 09, A PANEL COMPRISED OF MMOA AND MBW STAFF WILL SELECT OFFICERS FOR ASSIGNMENT TO MBW DURING FY 10.
2.  TIME-ON-STATION (TOS) REQUIREMENTS:  OFFICERS WHO WILL COMPLETE THEIR CURRENTLY PRESCRIBED TOUR BY 01 JAN 10 ARE ELIGIBLE.  THE NORMAL PRESCRIBED TOUR FOR PCSO IS 3 YRS, AND PCAO IS 2 YRS.
QUESTIONS ON TOUR LENGTHS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE APPROPRIATE MONITOR.
    A.  TOS WAIVERS:  OFFICERS THAT HAVE A MINIMUM OF 24 MONTHS TOS (FOR PCSO) MAY REQUEST IN WRITING TO MMOA TO BE CONSIDERED FOR MBW.
SUCH REQUESTS MUST BE ENDORSED BY THE MSC CHAIN OF COMMAND.  IF AN OFFICER IS ALLOWED TO DEPART A TOUR EARLY, MMOA WILL ATTEMPT TO BACKFILL THE BILLET BUT A VACANCY MAY OCCUR.
    B.  OFFICERS WHO MEET GRADE AND TOS REQUIREMENTS MUST ALSO:
        (1) MEET HEIGHT AND WEIGHT STANDARDS
        (2) POSSESS SUPERIOR MILITARY PROFICIENCY, CHARACTER, INITIATIVE, COMMUNICATION SKILLS, INTELLECT, JUDGMENT, BEARING, AND APPEARANCE.  MAJORITY OF RATINGS IN SNO'S MBS SHOULD BE "MIDDLE THIRD" OR HIGHER.
        (3) HAVE CONSISTENT FIRST CLASS PFT
        (4) BE MINIMUM HEIGHT OF:
            (A) MALE: 72"
            (B) FEMALE: 64"
        (5) HAVE MOS CREDIBILITY
        (6) BE FINANCIALLY STABLE
        (7) HAVE NO OUTSTANDING LEGAL ISSUES
        (8) HOLD A SECRET CLEARANCE AND IF UNMARRIED, BE TS/SCI ELIGIBLE
        (9) HAVE RECENT OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE (PREFERRED)
        (10) BE FULL DUTY STATUS AND ABLE TO STAND FOR FOUR OR MORE CONSECUTIVE HOURS IN CEREMONIAL CAPACITY
        (11) HAVE NO ADVERSE MATERIAL IN RECORD 3.  INTERESTED OFFICERS MUST CONTACT THEIR PRIMARY MOS MONITOR IN ORDER TO BE PRE-SCREENED BEFORE SUBMITTING A NOMINATION PACKAGE TO MBW.  OFFICERS IDENTIFIED AS ELIGIBLE AND COMPETITIVE FOR ASSIGNMENT BY THE MONITORS WILL BE PRESENTED TO A PANEL OF OFFICERS ON 10 SEP 09 TO SELECT INDIVIDUALS FOR THE FY 10 BILLET OPENINGS.  SELECTED OFFICERS WILL BE NOTIFIED VIA EMAIL OR PHONE BY THEIR PMOS MONITORS.
