2. SITUATION. THE ANNUAL OFFICER ASSIGNMENTS BRANCH VISIT (ROAD
SHOW) TO THE MARINE CORPS MAJOR COMMANDS AND DESIGNATED TRAINING
LOCATIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED FROM SEP 08 THROUGH DEC 08.
3. MISSION. CMC (MMOA) WILL VISIT EACH COMMAND AS SCHEDULED BELOW
TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATION ON MANPOWER AND PERSONNEL
RELATED ISSUES, TO CONDUCT CAREER COUNSELING AND ASSIGNMENT
COORDINATION WITH INDIVIDUAL OFFICERS, AND TO DISCUSS STAFFING
ISSUES WITH THE SENIOR LEADERSHIP AND G-1'S. CMC (MMOA) WILL PROVIDE
A COMMON BRIEF ON MANPOWER AND CAREER RELATED ISSUES AFFECTING THE
OFFICER CORPS. ALL OFFICERS ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THIS
BRIEF. REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE OFFICER COUNSELING SECTION
(MMOA-4), OFFICER DISTRIBUTION SECTION (MMOA-5), THE JOINT OFFICER
MANAGEMENT OFFICER (JOMO) AND ACQUISITION OFFICER'S MONITOR WILL
ALSO PARTICIPATE IN A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF VISITS. SMES FROM
MANPOWER MANAGEMENTS FORCE AUGMENTATION (MMFA) BRANCH WILL BE IN
ATTENDANCE AT MARFOR AND MEF LEVEL VENUES.

(1) BRIEFING TIME AND LOCATION WILL BE PROVIDED TO EACH
MAJOR CMD VIA SEPCOR.
(2) EACH MONITOR WILL POST A LIST OF PROJECTED FY09
STAFFING REQUIREMENTS (BILLETS) ON THEIR WEBPAGES AS SOON AS THIS
INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE. ADDITIONALLY, MONITORS WILL POST
THEIR PROJECTED MOVING POPULATIONS FOR THE FY09 STAFFING CYCLE.
OFFICERS CAN FIND THE LINK TO THEIR MONITOR'S WEBPAGE THROUGH THE
M&RA HOME PAGE (HTTPS:WWW.MANPOWER.USMC.MIL). ALL OFFICERS,
PARTICULARLY THOSE WHO ANTICIPATE MOVING DURING FY09, ARE HIGHLY
ENCOURAGED TO VISIT THEIR MONITOR'S WEBPAGE, AND SUBMIT BY E-MAIL,
TELEPHONE, OR IN-PERSON BY MONITOR INTERVIEW, THEIR DUTY,
GEOGRAPHICAL, AND SCHOOL PREFERENCES (IF APPLICABLE), AND ANY OTHER
RELEVANT INFORMATION. THESE SUBMISSIONS CAN BE MADE PRIOR TO,
DURING OR AFTER THE ROAD SHOW. SUBMISSION OF THIS INFORMATION IS
CRITICAL TO MATCHING PERSONAL PREFERENCES WITH THE NEEDS OF THE
MARINE CORPS. COMMUNICATION OF INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCES PRIOR TO THE
FALL 2008 COMMAND VISIT WILL MAKE PERSONAL INTERVIEWS MORE
PRODUCTIVE.
5. ADMIN AND LOGISTICS
A. COORDINATOR. EACH MAJOR COMMAND/SCHOOL WILL DESIGNATE A
COORDINATOR TO RESERVE APPROPRIATE MEETING AND BRIEFING FACILITIES,
ASSIST IN TRANSPORTATION AND LODGING REQUIREMENTS, COORDINATE THE
MONITOR INTERVIEW SCHEDULES, AND PUBLISH LOCAL TIMES AND LOCATIONS
FOR MMOA COMMAND BRIEFINGS. REQUEST POINT OF CONTACT FROM EACH
MAJOR COMMAND LOCATION BE IDENTIFIED/CONFIRMED AND PROVIDED TO CMC
(MMOA) POC NLT 1 AUG 08. FURTHER DETAILED COORDINATION WILL BE
CONDUCTED BY SEPARATE CORRESPONDENCE.
B. INTERVIEWS. REQUEST EACH COMMAND ESTABLISH A SCHEDULE OF
APPOINTMENTS FOR INDIVIDUAL OFFICERS TO MEET WITH THE
MONITORS/COUNSELORS. REQUEST THAT APPOINTMENTS BE SCHEDULED
CONSECUTIVELY BEGINNING AT THE DESIGNATED START TIME TO PROVIDE
MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY. CMC (MMOA) POC WILL COORDINATE WITH MAJOR
COMMANDS ON SPECIFIC START TIMES FOR EACH VENUE. IN ADDITION,
REQUEST THAT COMMANDS PROVIDE (2) MARINES PER INTERVIEW SITE TO
MANAGE THE INTERVIEW CHECK-IN PROCESS AND SCHEDULE. THE FOLLOWING
GUIDELINES SHOULD BE USED WHEN COMPILING THE INTERVIEW SCHEDULE:
(1) COLS 20 MIN PER INTERVIEW
(2) LTCOLS/MAJORS 15 MIN PER INTERVIEW
(3) CO GRADE 15 MIN PER INTERVIEW
(A) COMPANY GRADE INTERVIEWS: REQUEST FY09 MOVERS
RECEIVE PRIORITY DURING INTERVIEW SCHEDULING, FOLLOWED BY FY10, FY11
AND FY12. THE GOAL IS FOR ALL OFFICERS SCHEDULED TO MOVE IN THE
UPCOMING YEAR, TO BE ABLE TO SIT DOWN AND DISCUSS OPTIONS WITH THEIR
MONITOR.
(B) COMPANY GRADE Q AND A SESSION: REQUEST A 1-HOUR
GENERAL QUESTION AND ANSWER PERIOD BE ESTABLISHED FOLLOWING THE
COMMON MANPOWER BRIEF. THIS WILL ALLOW ALL OFFICERS TO MEET WITH
THEIR MONITORS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE BRIEF TO ASK GENERIC
QUESTIONS
WHICH MAY REDUCE THE NEED FOR AN INTERVIEW FOR OFFICERS NOT MOVING
DURING THE UPCOMING YEAR. AVIATION COMPANY GRADE MONITORS WILL
CONDUCT READY ROOM BRIEFS TO ASSIST IN ACCOMPLISHING THE SAME
OBJECTIVE.
C. EQUIPMENT. REQUEST A LAPTOP/DESKTOP WITH USB PORT (DATA
STICK COMPATIBLE) AND AN INFOCUS OR SIMILAR PROJECTION DEVICE WITH
SCREEN, IOT PRESENT THE MMOA BRIEF AT EACH LOCATION. FOR VENUES
WHERE ATTENDANCE IS SCHEDULED TO BE GREATER THAN 100 OFFICERS,
REQUEST A PA SYSTEM BE PRESENT FOR BRIEFER USE.
6. COMMAND AND SIGNAL
A. LAN DROPS AND TELEPHONE LINES ARE REQUIRED AT EVERY INTERVIEW
SITE. LAN DROPS MUST BE 10 BASE-T CAT V CABLING WITH 100 MB
CONNECTION FOR EACH USER. ADDITIONALLY, REQUEST PRINTER CAPABILITY
AT EACH INTERVIEW SITE. MMOA PERSONNEL WILL CONNECT TO MANPOWER
INFORMATION SYSTEMS THROUGH ACCESS TO THE NMCI NETWORK. ALL MMOA
PERSONNEL WILL HAVE NMCI DEPLOYABLE LAPTOPS AND ACCOUNTS. SPECIFIC
REQUIREMENTS WILL BE ADDRESSED VIA SEPARATE CORRESPONDENCE.
