GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. A TOLL FREE TELEPHONE NUMBER HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED TO PROVIDE NEXT OF KIN (NOK) WITH A MEANS OF CONTACTING WOUNDED WARRIORS HOSPITALIZED AT LANDSTUHL REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER (LRMC), GERMANY. THE TOLL FREE NUMBER IS 1-866-645-8762 AND MAY BE DIALED FROM ANY UNITED STATES TELEPHONE.
2. CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS FOR NOK UTILIZING THE TOLL FREE NUMBER IS AS FOLLOWS:
A. NOK AND IMMEDIATE FAMILY WILL BE ABLE TO DIAL THE TOLL FREE NUMBER FROM CONUS WHICH WILL CONNECT TO THE DSN LINE IN THE MARINE HOSPITAL LIAISON TEAM (HLT) OFFICE AT LANDSTUHL.
B. NORMAL OPERATING HOURS FOR THE MARINE HLT ARE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 6:30 A.M-9:00 P.M. AND FROM 9:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS. TIMES ARE CENTRAL EUROPEAN TIME ZONE. DURING THESE HOURS, AN HLT MARINE WILL BE ANSWERING ANY INCOMING PHONE CALL ON THE TOLL FREE LINE. LISTED BELOW ARE HOURS OF THE TOLL FREE LINE CONVERTED TO EACH U.S. TIME ZONE:
MONDAY THRU FRIDAY WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS
GERMAN CENTRAL TIME = 6:30 A.M.-9:00 P.M. 9:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M.
EASTERN TIME ZONE = 12:30 A.M.-3:00 P.M. 3:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M.
CENTRAL TIME ZONE = 11:30 P.M.-2:00 P.M. 2:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M.

C. DURING OFF DUTY HOURS, THE TOLL FREE LINE WILL BE AUTO-FORWARDED TO THE LRMC 24-HOUR INFORMATION DESK.
3. WHEN A PHONE CALL COMES IN FROM AN IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBER FOR A WOUNDED WARRIOR, THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS WILL BE TAKEN:
A. THE CALL WILL BE FORWARDED TO THE WARD IN THE HOSPITAL WHERE THE MARINE IS RECEIVING TREATMENT IN ORDER TO CONNECT THE FAMILY MEMBER WITH THE INJURED/ILL MARINE.
B. IF THE MARINE IS UNABLE TO TAKE THE CALL (THE NURSE ON THE WARD MAKES THAT DETERMINATION) OR THE MARINE DOES NOT DESIRE TO TALK, THEN THE CALL IS FORWARDED BACK TO THE MARINE HLT OFFICE.
C. THE HLT MARINE WILL THEN ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THE FAMILY MEMBER MIGHT HAVE (WITHIN THE SCOPE OF HIPPA/PRIVACY ACT LAWS) AND TAKE ANY MESSAGE THE FAMILY MEMBER WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE FOR THE INJURED MARINE.
D. MESSAGES WILL BE PASSED TO THE INJURED/ILL MARINE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
E. CALLING CARDS ARE FURNISHED FREE OF CHARGE TO ALL WOUNDED WARRIORS FOR THEIR USE. NO RESTRICTIONS ARE PLACED ON WHO THEY MAY CALL OR HOW LONG THEY MAY TALK.
4. THE ACTIVATION OF THE TOLL FREE TELEPHONE NUMBER WILL BE 4
OCTOBER 2007.
