GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. REFS A AND B REQUIRE REPORTING OF PERSONNEL DATA
OF ALL ACTIVE AND RESERVE COMPONENT PERSONNEL PARTICIPATING IN
HURRICANE RELIEF OPERATIONS, SPECIFICALLY FOR HURRICANES KATRINA AND
RITA. PER REF A, THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE HAS ASSIGNED A JOINT
CHIEF OF STAFF (JCS) PROJECT CODE OF "9GY" FOR HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF
OPERATIONS. PER REF C, JCS ESTABLISHED A SEPARATE PROJECT CODE OF
"9HB" FOR HURRICANE RITA RELIEF OPERATIONS. THIS REPORTING
REQUIREMENT MUST BE IMPLEMENTED BY 14 OCTOBER 2005 USING A START
DATE OF 29 AUGUST 2005.
2. ACTION. TO MEET THIS REQUIREMENT COMMANDS WILL COMPLETE THE
FOLLOWING REPORTING ACTIONS FOR THEIR PERSONNEL WHO HAVE BEEN
ASSIGNED HURRICANE RELIEF OPERATIONS DUTIES BEGINNING ON OR AFTER 29
AUGUST 2005:
A. FOR THOSE PERSONNEL WHO DEPLOYED FOR SUCH DUTIES, ENSURE YOU
RUN A PERSTEMPO EVENT IN MCTFS, REFLECTING THEY WERE DEPLOYED, FOR
THE APPLICABLE DATES, IAW REF D. FURTHER, IAW REF D, ENSURE THE
PERSTEMPO EVENT CATEGORY CODE FOR THIS DEPLOYMENT IS CODE "WAG", TO
REFLECT A DEPLOYMENT FOR A HUMANITARIAN OPERATION.
B. FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE PERSONNEL WHO DEPLOYED IN SUPPORT OF OR
PROVIDED DIRECT SUPPORT TO THESE HURRICANE RELIEF OPERATIONS, ASSIGN
THEM A MCTFS PROJECT/CRISIS CODE OF "9GY" FOR
HURRICANE KATRINA AND "9HB" FOR HURRICANE RITA, IAW REF D.
C. FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE PERSONNEL WHO HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN ASSIGNED
A CRISIS CODE OF "9GF" DUE TO SUPPORT OF OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM,
MCTFS TRANSACTIONS MUST INCLUDE STOP DATES FOR THIS CRISIS CODE. IF
PERSONNEL SUBSEQUENTLY RETURN FROM HURRICANE RELIEF DUTIES TO
SUPPORT OF OEF, MCTFS TRANSACTION MUST INCLUDE A NEW START DATE FOR
THE "9GF" CRISIS CODE.
D. FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE PERSONNEL WHO TRANSFER FROM ONE HURRICANE
RELIEF EFFORT TO THE OTHER, MCTFS TRANSACTIONS MUST INCLUDE STOP
DATES FOR RESPECTIVE PROJECT CODES.
E. THESE ACTIONS ARE IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER EXISTING REPORTING
REQUIREMENTS TO REFLECT THE ASSIGNMENT OF PERSONNEL (E.G.,
ASSIGNMENT TO A TASK FORCE OR SPECIFIC UNIT).
3. THE STAFF IN CMC (MPO), CMC (MI) AND THE LOCAL MISSO OFFICE
PERSONNEL ARE AVAILABLE TO ASSIST UNITS IN ENSURING THIS REPORTING
IS EFFECTED CORRECTLY OR CLARIFYING POLICY, PROCEDURES AND
GUIDANCE.
4. THIS MESSAGE HAS BEEN COORDINATED WITH MP/RA/MI.//
