GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. PER REF A, THE CG MARCORLOGCOM IS THE MARINE
CORPS EXECUTIVE AGENT FOR MATTERS REGARDING RADIOLOGICAL CONTROLS.
THE NAVAL SEA SYSTEMS COMMAND (NAVSEA) RADIOLOGICAL AFFAIRS SUPPORT
OFFICE (RASO) AND THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION (NRC)
RECENTLY CONDUCTED AN INSPECTION OF MARCORLOGCOM RADIOLOGICAL
CONTROLS OFFICE (RADCON). DUE TO THE LARGE NUMBER OF INVENTORY
DISCREPANCIES FOR THE CHEMICAL AGENT MONITORS (CAM) (NSN
6665-00-725-9996 TAM C20327A) AND ALARM, CHEMICAL AGENT
DETECTOR-AUTOMATIC (ACADA) (NSN 6665-01-438-6963 TAM C21087B),
IMMEDIATE ACTION IS REQUIRED TO CORRECT IDENTIFIED DISCREPANCIES
BEFORE THE NAVSEA AND NRC REINSPECTION IN APRIL 2005.
2. PER REFS B AND C, MARCORLOGCOM RADCON MEMBERS HAVE BEEN AND ARE
CONTINUING TO VISIT SEVERAL MARINE CORPS COMMANDS TO VERIFY CAM AND
ACADA PHYSICAL INVENTORIES AND TO CORRECT INVENTORY DISCREPANCIES.
IF YOUR COMMAND IS CHOSEN FOR A VISIT, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED VIA
NAVAL MESSAGE.
3. PER REF D, ALL MARINE CORPS COMMANDS, INCLUDING THOSE THAT HAVE
BEEN OR WILL BE VISITED BY MARCORLOGCOM RADCON, MUST PERFORM A
PHYSICAL INVENTORY OF THEIR CAMS AND ACADAS AND REPORT RESULTS TO
MARCORLOGCOM ACCORDINGLY. THESE ITEMS ARE SERIALIZED ASSETS VALUED
IN EXCESS OF $6,000 EACH PER CAM, AND $10,000 EACH PER ACADA, AND
ARE CONTROLLED RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS PER REF B.
4. TO ASSIST, A LIST OF CURRENT INVENTORY DISCREPANCIES FOR CAM AND
ACADA ITEMS MISSING TWO OR MORE REPORTING CYCLES IS POSTED ON THE
RADCON WEBSITE AT WWW.LOGCOM.USMC.MIL/RADCON. EACH COMMAND WITH A
DISCREPANCY FOUND ON THE LIST WILL CONDUCT A JAGMAN INVESTIGATION
PER REF E. A COPY OF THE JAGMAN INVESTIGATION SHALL BE PROVIDED NO
LATER THAN 14 MAR 2005 TO THE CG MARCORLOGCOM (RADCON) VIA FAX AT
COMMERCIAL (229) 639-5516, DSN 567-5516, OR BY CERTIFIED OVERNIGHT
EXPRESS DELIVERY TO:

5. ALL RADIOLOGICAL COMMODITIES WILL BE TRACKED LOCALLY USING THE
DD FORM 1348 WITH COPIES MAINTAINED FOR 3 YEARS. DEPLOYING UNITS
SHALL PROVIDE COPIES OF THE DD FORM 1348 OR CONSOLIDATED MEMORANDUM
OF RECORD TO MEF HEADQUARTERS SUPPLY FOR RETENTION AND FUTURE
SEMI-ANNUAL REPORTING REQUIREMENTS WHILE THE OWNING UNIT IS
DEPLOYED. 6. ALL ACTIONS SHALL BE COMPLETED WITHIN 15 DAYS OF
RECEIPT OF THIS MESSAGE. DIRECT ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS TO THE
