RMKS/1. THE PURPOSE OF THIS MARADMIN IS TO SOLICITNOMINATIONS FROM
PERSONNEL DESIRING TO ATTEND THE AIR FORCE SPACE COMMAND (AFSPC)
SPACE 200 PROTOTYPE COURSE. THIS IS A 4-WEEK AFSPC FUNDED COURSE
DESIGNED TO PROVIDE TRAINING FOR MID-GRADE OFFICERS, ENLISTED, AND
CIVILIAN PERSONNEL IN ORDER TO OBTAIN KNOWLEDGE AND DEVELOP SKILLS
REQUIRED TO APPLY SPACE SYSTEMS TO COMBAT OPERATIONS. THE AFSPC
SPACE WARFARE CENTER'S SPACE OPERATIONS SCHOOL (SOPSC) HAS SCHEDULED
TWO PROTOTYPE SPACE 200 COURSES DURING THE PERIOD 27 OCT-21 NOV 03
AND AGAIN 05-23 JAN 04. HQMC PPO, PLI WILL SCREEN APPLICATIONS FOR
ATTENDANCE AND SELECT ONE PRIMARY AND ONE ALTERNATE FOR EACH OF THE
SUBJECT COURSES.2. BACKGROUND:A. AFSPC IS IMPLEMENTING A SPACE
PROFESSIONAL STRATEGY TO COMPLY WITH REFERENCE A. ADVANCED SPACE
EDUCATION COURSES ARE A KEY ELEMENT OF THAT CONSTRUCT. THE PURPOSE
OF THE SPACE 200 COURSE IS TO PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE IN THE CAPABILITIES,
LIMITATIONS, VULNERABILITIES, APPLICATIONS, AND EMPLOYMENT OF SPACE
SYSTEMS.B. AFSPC HAS ASKED FOR STUDENTS FROM THE SERVICES,
COMPONENTS, AND AGENCIES TO ATTEND THIS PROTOTYPE COURSE IN AN
EFFORT TO VALIDATE AND CRITIQUE THE COURSE IN AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE
THE FINAL PRODUCT. AFSPC WILL FUND ALL TAD COSTS FOR STUDENTS IN
SUPPORT OF THIS EFFORT.C. IAW SECDEF GUIDANCE FOUND IN REF A, THE
USMC HAS UNDERTAKEN AN EFFORT TO ESTABLISH A CADRE OF SPACE
PROFESSIONALS TO SUPPORT USMC EQUITIES IN SPACE. THIS CADRE WILL
COMPRISE TRAINED AND KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSONNEL ABLE TO PROVIDE
OPERATING FORCE COMMANDERS AND SUPPORTING ESTABLISHMENT
ORGANIZATIONS THE ABILITY TO PLAN AND INTEGRATE SPACE BASED
CAPABILITIES INTO MARINE CORPS OPERATIONS, PLANS, AND REQUIREMENTS.
IN SUPPORT OF THIS CADRE DEVELOPMENT, HQMC IS REVIEWING EXISTING AND
PROTOTYPE SPACE COURSES TO ASCERTAIN WHICH COURSES WILL BEST SUPPORT
DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE USMC SPACE CADRE. AS SUCH, HQMC
INTENDS TO SUPPORT AFSPC IN THE REVIEW OF THEIR SPACE 200 COURSE AND
THE MARINE STUDENT ATTENDING THE COURSES WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE
A COURSE CRITIQUE TO HQMC.3. COURSE DESCRIPTION:A. NAME: SPACE
200B. DESCRIPTION: SPACE 200 PROVIDES TRAINING ON VARIOUS DOD,
CIVIL AND COMMERCIAL, NATIONAL AND FOREIGN SPACE SYSTEMS. THE
COURSE PROVIDES INSIGHTS INTO THE CAPABILITIES, LIMITATIONS,
VULNERABILITIES, APPLICATIONS, AND EMPLOYMENT OF SPACE SYSTEMS THAT
SUPPORT THE WARFIGHTER.ADDITIONAL COURSE INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND AT
THE HQMC/PP&O/PLI SIPRNET SITE:

FUNDING: COURSE WILL BE NO COST TO PARENT COMMAND. ALL COURSE AND
TRAVEL EXPENSES TO BE FUNDED BY AFSPC.4. COURSE PREREQUISITES:A.
RANK: ACTIVE OR RESERVE OFFICERS, ENLISTED, OR CIVILIANS,
PREFERABLY WITH 8-10 YEARS TIME IN SERVICEB. MOS: THIS COURSE IS
OPEN TO ANY MOS. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO PERSONNEL IN BILLETS
AND MOS'S THAT DEAL WITH SPACE SYSTEMS AND THEIR APPLICATION TO
OPERATIONAL PLANNING. TYPICALLY THIS WILL INCLUDE, BUT IS NOT
LIMITED TO, PERSONNEL WITH THE 9666 MOS OR 9933 AMOS, PERSONNEL IN
THE 02XX OR 06XX OCCUPATIONAL FIELDS, OR PERSONNEL SERVING ON A
STAFF IN THE G-2, G-3/5, OR G-6 STAFF SECTIONS.C. EXPERIENCE: AFSPC
HAS REQUESTED THAT STUDENTS HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THE ACQUISITION OR
OPERATION OF A SPACE OR MISSILE SYSTEM. GIVEN THAT THE USMC MAY
HAVE A LIMITED NUMBER OF PERSONNEL WHO MEET THIS REQUIREMENT, THIS
PREREQUISITE IS WAIVED. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE PERSONNEL
WHO HAVE SERVED IN OR ARE CURRENTLY IN A SPACE-RELATED BILLET.D.
EDUCATION: THERE ARE NO UNIQUE EDUCATIONAL PREREQUISITES FOR THIS
COURSE. UNDERGRADUATE OR ADVANCED DEGREES IN SPACE-RELATED FIELDS
MAY BE OF BENEFIT TO THE PROSPECTIVE STUDENT AND SHOULD BE ANNOTATED
IN THE APPLICATION.E. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A SECRET CLEARANCE IS
REQUIRED FOR THIS COURSE. TOP SECRET WITH AT LEAST AN INTERIM SCI
