GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. THIS MARADMIN IS TO ANNOUNCE
THE 2008 HENAAC CAREER CONFERENCE AND AWARDS SHOW, AND SOLICIT
NOMINEES FOR THE 2008 HENAAC AWARDS. THE CONFERENCE WILL TAKE PLACE
IN HOUSTON, TX FROM 9-12 OCTOBER 2008.
2. HENAAC IS AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION AND
WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1989. THE MISSION OF HENAAC IS TO EDUCATE,
MOTIVATE, AND ENABLE MORE STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE CAREERS IN SCIENCE,
TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS (STEM); TO ENGAGE FAMILIES,
EDUCATORS AND EMPLOYERS TO SUPPORT STUDENTS IN STEM CAREERS, TO
INSPIRE OUR NATION THROUGH RECOGNITION OF THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF
HISPANICS IN STEM; TO DEVELOP AND LEVERAGE HISPANIC STEM TALENT TO
PLAY A LEADERSHIP ROLE; AND TO LEAD COLLABORATION AND COOPERATION
WITHIN THE STEM COMMUNITY.
3. EACH YEAR HENAAC PRESENTS AWARDS TO MILITARY PERSONNEL
(ACTIVE AND RESERVE, AND DOD CIVILIANS) FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS IN
TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AS WELL AS RECOGNIZING THEIR
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:
OUTSTANDING TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT, PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT, THE
SANTIAGO RODRIGUEZ DIVERSITY AWARD, AND THE COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD.
THE AWARDS WILL BE PRESENTED AT THE 2008 ANNUAL CAREER CONFERENCE
AND AWARDS SHOW 10 OCTOBER 2008 AT THE HILTON AMERICAS. THE HENAAC

4. COMMANDERS AND SUPERVISORS MAY ALLOW DOD PERSONNEL INVOLVED IN
POLICIES AND PROGRAMS AFFECTING THE EMPLOYMENT AND ADVANCEMENT OF
MINORITIES AND WOMEN TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS CONFERENCE. EXAMPLES
OF PERSONS IN THESE CATEGORIES INCLUDE CIVILIAN AND MILITARY EQUAL
OPPORTUNITY DIRECTORS, SPECIALISTS, AND ADVISORS; SPECIAL EMPHASIS
PROGRAM MANAGERS; HUMAN RESOURCE SPECIALISTS; AND INDIVIDUALS IN
COMMAND, SUPERVISORY, AND MANAGERIAL POSITIONS. COMMANDERS MAY
AUTHORIZE TAD ORDERS TO COVER EXPENSES INCIDENT TO ATTENDANCE AND
PARTICIPATION IN THE CONFERENCE INCLUDING TRANSPORTATION, PER DIEM,
AND REGISTRATION FEES.
5. COMMANDERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO NOMINATE DESERVING MARINES FOR
THIS AWARD. THE AWARD RECIPIENTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED VIA MARADMIN.
TRAVEL AND PER DIEM FOR THE MARINE AWARD RECIPIENT(S) AND ONE FAMILY
MEMBER WILL BE FUNDED BY CMC (MPE) AND TRAVEL AND PER DIEM FOR THE
CIVILIAN AWARD RECIPIENT(S) WILL BE FUNDED BY CMC (MPC).
6. THIS MESSAGE IS APPLICABLE TO THE MARINE CORPS RESERVE.
