GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. PURPOSE. TO ANNOUNCE THE FIRST ANNUAL
MARINE CORPS COSC CONFERENCE.
2. BACKGROUND. THE PURPOSE OF THIS CONFERENCE IS TO BRING
TOGETHER SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS AND STAKEHOLDERS IN THE COSC
PROCESS, AND TO PRESENT, EXAMINE, AND BECOME INFORMED ON
EVIDENCE-BASED COSC POLICIES, PROGRAMS, AND PRACTICES
SPECIFICALLY TAILORED TO MARINES AND THEIR FAMILIES. TOPICS
WILL BE OF INTEREST TO MARINES, LEADERS, RESEARCHERS, TREATMENT
PROVIDERS, CHAPLAINS, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND KEY VOLUNTEERS.
REPRESENTATION FROM COMMAND LEADERSHIP WILL BE ESSENTIAL TO
IMPROVE CORPS-WIDE EFFORTS IN PREVENTION, IDENTIFICATION, AND
EARLY TREATMENT OF STRESS INJURIES, MAXIMIZING FORCE
PRESERVATION AND READINESS.
3. COMMANDERS SHALL ENSURE WIDEST DISSEMINATION OF THIS MESSAGE.
THE FOLLOWING ALLOCATIONS WILL BE RESERVED FOR EACH COMMAND:

THESE ALLOCATIONS ARE FOR MARINE LEADERS (BATTALION
COMMANDERS/SENIOR ENLISTED LEADERS AND ABOVE), MEDICAL PERSONAL,
CHAPLAINS, MCCS PROVIDERS (GENERAL COUNSELORS, FAMILY ADVOCACY
COUNSELORS, SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELORS) AND, AS APPROPRIATE,
KEY VOLUNTEERS. COMMAND SUPPORT IN SENDING REPRESENTATIVES IS
ENCOURAGED TO THE EXTENT POSSIBLE. THE NUMBER OF REGISTERED
ATTENDEES WILL BE CLOSELY MONITORED TO ENSURE THAT ALL
APPROPRIATE MARINE CORPS PERSONNEL WHO WANT TO ATTEND WILL BE
ABLE TO.
4. DATE AND LOCATION. THE CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD 18-19 JUN
07 AT THE CRYSTAL CITY DOUBLE TREE HOTEL, ALEXANDRIA, VA.
5. REGISTRATION. OPEN TO ALL WITH INTEREST IN MARINE CORPS
COSC PROGRAMS AND PROCESSES. PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO
REGISTER TO ATTEND AT WWW.MANPOWER.USMC.MIL/COSC. REGISTRATION
IS LIMITED TO 400 SEATS. THERE IS NO FEE FOR THE CONFERENCE.
6. BILLETING. 200 ROOMS HAVE BEEN BLOCKED AT THE CONFERENCE
HOTEL AT THE GOVERNMENT PER DIEM RATE. RESERVATIONS CAN BE MADE
ONLINE THROUGH A LINK ON THE CONFERENCE WEBSITE. ATTENDEES
PLANNING TO STAY AT THE DOUBLE TREE HOTEL SHOULD MAKE THEIR
RESERVATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO ENSURE THEY RECEIVE A ROOM AT
THE GOVERNMENT PER DIEM RATE. GOVERNMENT QUARTERS AND MESSING
ARE NOT AVAILABLE.
7. TRAVEL. TRAVEL AND PER DIEM MUST BE FUNDED BY INDIVIDUAL
COMMANDS. TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS SHOULD PLAN FOR ARRIVAL ON 17
JUN AND DEPARTURE ON 20 JUN 07. RONALD REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT
IS CLOSEST TO THE HOTEL (5 MIN). FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE
AIRPORT TO THE CONFERENCE HOTEL IS AVAILABLE.
8. ATTIRE. CONFERENCE ATTIRE WILL BE SERVICE CHARLIE OR
EQUIVALENT FOR MILITARY, BUSINESS CASUAL FOR CIVILIANS.
9. OTHER. TAD ORDERS WILL BE NON-REPORTING. DETAILED LOGISTICAL
