RMKS/1. THE MARINE CORPS LEAGUE WILL SPONSOR THE TWENTY-THIRD
ANNUAL MODERN DAY MARINE MILITARY EXPOSITION, 16-18 SEPTEMBER 2003,
AT MARINE CORPS BASE, QUANTICO, VIRGINIA. THE CAPITAL MARINES, HOST
DETACHMENT OF THE MARINE CORPS LEAGUE FOR THE ANNUAL EVENT, WILL
AGAIN RECOGNIZE ENLISTED MARINES FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO
THE CORPS. AWARDS ARE PERENNIAL. FOR ALL AWARDS, CONTRIBUTIONS MAY
BE FOR SUSTAINED PERFORMANCE OR FOR A SPECIFIC INDIVIDUAL ACT. THE
CONTRIBUTION MUST HAVE BEEN MADE DURING CALENDAR YEAR 2002.
2. "MARINE RECRUITER OF THE YEAR", "DRILL INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR",
"ENLISTED MARINE CORPS RESERVIST OF 2002", AND "CAREER PLANNER OF
THE YEAR" ARE ALSO SPONSORED BY THE CAPITAL MARINES; HOWEVER, THESE
ARE SEPARATE FROM THE SUBJECT AWARDS AND WILL BE SELECTED THROUGH
ANOTHER PROCESS.

F. SERGEANT MAJOR BERTHA L. PETERS AWARD: AWARDED TO AN
ENLISTED WOMAN MARINE WHO HAS MADE A SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO

G. THE 2002 MARINE CORPS RESERVIST OF THE YEAR AWARD: AWARDED

REQUEST ONE NOMINATION FROM EACH COMMAND FOR EACH CATEGORY.
5. NOMINATIONS OF INDIVIDUAL MOBILIZATON AUGMENTEES (IMA) FOR THE
RESERVIST OF THE YEAR AWARD SHOULD BE SUBMITTED THROUGH RESERVIST'S
OPERATIONAL SPONSOR (E. G. MARFORPAC, MARFORLANT, MCCDC, ETC).
NOMINATIONS FOR RESERVISTS ASSIGNED TO SMCR UNITS WILL BE SUBMITTED
VIA THEIR CHAIN-OF-COMMAND TO COMMARFORRES.
6. A ONE PAGE COVER SHEET SHOULD PROVIDE A BRIEF OUTLINE JUSTIFYING
THE NOMINATION. DETAILED SUPPORTING INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION
SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS AN ENCLOSURE AND SHOULD NOT EXCEED THREE
PAGES. DOCUMENTATION MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

8. THE SELECTION BOARD WILL BE CHAIRED BY THE SERGEANT MAJOR OF THE
MARINE CORPS, AND UPON COMPLETION OF SELECTION PROCESS, COMMANDS AND
SELECTED AWARDEES WILL BE NOTIFIED. ARRANGEMENTS MADE BY THE
CAPITAL MARINES TO TRANSPORT THE SELECTED WINNERS AND THEIR SPOUSES
TO THE AWARDS PRESENTATION. THOSE SELECTED SHOULD PLAN ON A 4-5 DAY
STAY IN WASHINGTON, D.C. THE CAPITAL MARINES WILL PROVIDE QUARTERS
AND MESSING.
