PURPOSE. THIS MESSAGE REPORTS AFTER ACTION ITEMS AND TASKS FROM THE
10-11 OCTOBER 2006 C4 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT (ITM) COMMUNITY
OF INTEREST (COI) LEADERSHIP SUMMIT HOSTED BY THE CHIEF TECHNOLOGY
ADVISOR, C4. THE AGENDA WAS DESIGNED TO FOSTER DISCUSSION AND FRAME KEY
ISSUES REQUIRING FURTHER DEVELOPMENT BY THE ITM COI.
2. ITM COI SUMMIT ATTENDEES INCLUDED: C4 CHIEF TECHNOLOGY ADVISOR, C4
CRP BRANCH HEAD, C4 ITM COI MANAGER, DON CIO REPRESENTATIVE, M&RA
REPRESENTATIVE AND REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVES FROM MCB CAMP LEJEUNE, MCAS
CHERRY POINT, MARFORPAC G6, CAMP SMITH, HAWAII, HQMC AR, MCB CAMP
BUTLER, OKINAWA, JAPAN, MCTSSA, MCRD SAN DIEGO AND MCAS YUMA.
3. THE FOLLOWING LIST OUTLINES ACTIONS THAT RESULTED FROM THE FALL 2006
C4 ITM COI LEADERSHIP SUMMIT. THE NEXT STEP IS FOR COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT
TO CREATE A PLAN AND TIMELINE TO ADDRESS THESE ACTIONS IN DETAIL. WHILE
SOME ACTIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED AS EARLY AS SECOND QTR FY07,
OTHERS ARE VERY LONG TERM PROJECTS DEPENDANT UPON COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP
AND MEMBER ENGAGEMENT IN FOCUS GROUPS, WORKING GROUPS AND OFFSITES.
ACTIONS ARE OUTLINED HERE WITH APPROXIMATE TIMELINES.
3.A. IDENTIFY ITM COI CIVILIAN MARINE WORKFORCE COMPOSITION (SECOND QTR
FY07).
3.B. REVISE USMC CIVILIAN WORKFORCE ITM COMMUNITY OF INTEREST CHARTER
(SECOND QTR FY07).
3.C. COORDINATE WITH MANPOWER & RESERVE AFFAIRS REGARDING PORTAL
FUNCTIONALITY (SECOND QTR FY07).
3.D. DEVELOP STANDARDIZED CAREER PATHS FOR THE OCCUPATIONS THAT FORM THE
CORE OF THE ITM COI (COMPLETE DURING FY08).
3.E. INVESTIGATE TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES WITH ACTIVE DUTY MARINES AND
WITH OTHER SERVICES (FY07 AND ONGOING).
3.F. ESTABLISH AN ITM COI COMMUNICATION PLAN (SECOND QTR FY07).
3.G. IDENTIFY EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ITM COI MEMBERS (SECOND QTR
FY07 AND THEN ONGOING).
4. THE PRECEDING ACTIONS WILL BE ENTERED INTO THE HQMC
C4 TRACKING SYSTEM AND PROGRESS WILL BE FOLLOWED TO COMPLETION.
PERIODIC UPDATES WILL BE PROVIDED TO COMMUNITY LEADERS AND MEMBERS
BETWEEN SUMMITS AND THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
5. THE NEXT C4 ITM COI LEADERSHIP SUMMIT WILL BE HELD IN MID MAY 2007.
SPECIFIC TIME AND LOCATION WILL BE PROVIDED VIA SEPARATE CORRESPONDENCE.
