GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. REFERENCE A IS THE ASSIGNMENT, CLASSIFICATION, AND
TRAVEL SYSTEMS (ACTS) MANUAL.
2. THIS MESSAGE SERVES TO SET FORTH THE REQUIREMENTS FOR AWARDING THE
COMBAT AIRCREW WINGS TO CASEVAC CORPSMEN. THIS MESSAGE SUPERSEDES
MARADMINS 519/05 AND 521/05 WITH REGARDS TO CORPSMEN ONLY, ALL OTHER
PROVISIONS REMAIN THE SAME. CORPSMEN WHO HAVE BEEN AWARDED COMBAT
AIRCREW WINGS AS NAVAL AIRCREW OR AERIAL OBSERVERS UNDER THE PREVIOUS
MARADMINS ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS MESSAGE EXCEPT FOR THE PROPER WEARING OF
THE DEVICE AND THE WARFARE DESIGNATOR AUTHORIZATION.
2. CHANGES TO THE ACTS MANUAL WILL BE FORTHCOMING. THIS MESSAGE
AUTHORIZES LOCAL COMMANDERS TO AWARD COMBAT AIRCREW WINGS TO ALL
CURRENT AND PREVIOUS CORPSMEN WHO QUALIFY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS MARADMIN.
3. PREREQUISITES FOR DESIGNATION AS A COMBAT AIRCREWMEN (MEDICAL
SPECIALIST (MS)/CASUALTY EVACUATION HOSPITAL CORPSMEN (CASEVAC HM))
ARE AS FOLLOWS:
A. SAILOR MUST BE A VOLUNTEER FOR COMBAT AIRCREW DUTY.
B. THE SAILOR MUST BE QUALIFIED PER PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL
REQUIREMENTS OF THE MANUAL OF THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT USING DESIGNATED
FLIGHT SURGEON STANDARDS.
C. THE SAILOR MUST BE A COMMAND DIRECTED MEMBER OF A FLIGHT CREW IN AN
AIRCRAFT PARTICIPATING IN COMBAT OPERATIONS.
D. THE SAILOR MUST BE DESIGNATED BY HIS COMMAND OR HIGHER AUTHORITY FOR
A POSITION IN THE FLIGHT CREW OF A MARINE AIRCRAFT AS A MEDICAL SPECIALIST
OR CASUALTY EVACUATION HOSPITAL CORPSMAN.
E. THE MEDICAL SPECIALIST/CASUALTY EVACUATION HOSPITAL CORPSMAN MUST BE A
GRADUATE OF THE CASUALTY EVACUATION COURSE OF INSTRUCTION:
CIN B-300-5000; CDP 994A (1ST MAW), 994B (2ND MAW), 994C (3RD MAW).
F. THE SAILOR MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE N7/NP PHYSIOLOGY TRAINING.
G. THE SAILOR MUST BE IN RECEIPT OF IMMINENT DANGER PAY.
4. AFTER SUCCESSFUL QUALIFICATION, AN ENTRY WILL BE MADE IN THE SAILORS
PERSONNEL RECORD. AWARDING AND RETENTION OF COMBAT AIRCREW WINGS WILL BE
THE SAME AS REFERENCE (A).
5. THE COMBAT AIRCREW WINGS WILL BE WORN IN THE SUPERIOR POSITION (ABOVE
THE RIBBONS). COMBAT STARS WILL BE WORN AS FOLLOWS:
A. 1 STAR WILL BE WORN CENTERED.
B. 2 STARS WILL BE WORN IN THE LEFT AND RIGHT POSITIONS.
C. 3 STARS ARE THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT AWARDED AND WILL FILL THE DEVICE.
THE WARFARE DESIGNATOR (CAC) WILL BE PLACED NEXT TO THE MEMBERS RATING
(I. E. HM2(CAC) SMITH).
6. ALL PERSONNEL NOT QUALIFIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS MESSAGE MUST REQUEST
DETERMINATION OF ELIGIBILITY FROM CMC (ASM).//
