GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. THE REFERENCE OUTLINES SOLICITATION FOR DEPARTMENT  OF DEFENSE (DOD) AND NATIONAL AFFINITY GROUPS' DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDS BY THE HQMC EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND DIVERSITY MANAGEMENT BRANCH (MPE), AND THE CIVILIAN WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT BRANCH, EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY (EEO) (MPC-10).
2. DOD AND NATIONAL AFFINITY GROUPS' DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDS RECOGNIZE INDIVIDUAL MARINES AND MARINE CORPS CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES WHO DISTINGUISHED THEMSELVES THROUGH THEIR PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS, SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THEIR COMMUNITY, AND HIGH DEGREE OF PERSONAL INTEGRITY AND ETHICAL CONDUCT.
   A. ALL MARINE AND CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES, REGARDLESS OF RACE, ETHNICITY, GENDER, OR RELIGION, ARE ELIGIBLE FOR NOMINATION.
   B. COMMANDERS MAY NOMINATE INDIVIDUALS FOR MORE THAN ONE AWARD IF THAT INDIVIDUAL MEETS THE CRITERIA FOR MULTIPLE AWARDS.
   C. IF AN INDIVIDUAL IS NOT CHOSEN FOR THE SPECIFIC AWARD FOR WHICH THEY ARE SUBMITTED, HQMC MAY EVALUATE THAT INDIVIDUAL FOR OTHER AWARDS, IF THEY MEET THE CRITERIA.
3. THE FOLLOWING MARINE RECIPIENTS WERE SELECTED TO REPRESENT THE MARINE CORPS:

4. THE FOLLOWING MARINE WAS SELECTED AS THE MARINE CORPS NOMINATION.  THE MARINE WILL COMPETE AGAINST NOMINEES FROM THE OTHER MILITARY SERVICES. THE WINNER OF THE AWARD WILL BE ANNOUNCED VIA SEPARATE CORRESPONDANCE.
   A. THE WOMEN OF COLOR (WOC) IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS (STEM) PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD.
       (1)  GUNNERY SERGEANT MARISA BRYANT, MARINE FORCE RESERVE.
5. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE AWARD RECIPIENTS AND THEIR COMMANDS.
   A. THE NAACP ROY WILKSON RENOWN SERVICE AWARD WILL BE PRESENTED AT THE NAACP AWARDS DINNER WHICH TAKES PLACE ON 16 JULY 2013 IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA AT THE ORANGE COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER.
   B. THE FEW IN MILITARY SERVICE AWARD WILL BE PRESENTED AT THE FEW  CONFERENCE DURING 22-26 JULY 2013 IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA AT THE HILTON ORLANDO.
   C. LULAC EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE AWARD WILL BE PRESENTED AT THE LULAC CONFERENCE DURING 17-22 JUNE 2013 IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA AT CAESARS PALACE.
   D. OUTSTANDING DOD EMPLOYEE WITH A DISABILITY AWARD WILL BE PRESENTED AT AN AWARDS CEREMONY ON 1 OCTOBER 2013 IN WASHINGTON, D.C. AT THE PENTAGON.
   E. WOC IN STEM AWARDS DINNER WILL BE PRESENTED AT THE WOC IN STEM CONFERENCE DURING 17-19 OCTOBER 2013, IN DALLAS, TEXAS AT THE HILTON ANATOLE HOTEL.
6. FUNDING BY MPE IS DEPENDENT UPON APPROVAL AT THE DON/AA, SECDEF LEVEL. THE RECIPIENT SHOULD CONTACT THE CMC (MPE) POC TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. IF MPE IS UNABLE TO FUND TRAVEL FOR THE AWARD RECIPIENTS, WINNERS MAY ATTEND BUT MUST PAY FOR TRAVEL OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKET.
7. AWARD RECIPIENTS WHO RECEIVE A GIFT OF TRAVEL IN ORDER TO ATTEND THE AWARD CEREMONY OR CONFERENCE, INCLUDING WAIVER OF CONFERENCE FEES OR WAIVER OF DINNER EXPENSES, ARE REMINDED THAT IF THE VALUE OF BENEFITS RECEIVED FROM THE AFFINITY GROUP EXCEEDS 250 DOLLARS, THEY MUST REPORT THIS INFORMATION TO THEIR LOCAL SJA PRIOR TO ACCEPTING THE GIFT OR WAIVER. THE LOCAL SJA MUST, IN TURN, REPORT THIS INFORMATION TO HQMC JUDGE ADVOCATE DIVISION'S CODE JAR FOR SEMI-ANNUAL DOD REPORTING PURPOSES. THE SF326 IS AUTHORIZED FOR USE FOR THIS REPORT.
