AMPN/REF IS THE NOMINATION GUIDELINES FOR THE 2014 EXCEPTIONAL SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE COORDINATOR AWARD.//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION AND RESPONSE OFFICE (DOD SAPRO) ANNUALLY RECOGNIZES INDIVIDUALS (ACTIVE AND RESERVE MILITARY OR CIVILIAN) FROM EACH MILITARY SERVICE WHO ACT AS THE SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE COORDINATOR (SARC).  THIS AWARD RECOGNIZES INDIVIDUALS WHOSE WORK HAS BEEN PARTICULARLY NOTEWORTHY AND DEMONSTRATES OUTSTANDING SERVICE IN SUPPORT OF OUR SERVICE MEMBERS.  AWARDEES WILL BE RECOGNIZED DURING SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH (APRIL 2014).
2.  IF DOD SAPRO HOSTS AN AWARDS CEREMONY IN APRIL 2014, THE CEREMONY WILL BE PRESIDED OVER BY SENIOR LEADERS FROM OSD AND THE SERVICES.  A PHOTO AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE AWARDEES WILL BE HIGHLIGHTED ON THE DOD SAPRO WEBSITE.  DOD SAPRO WILL FUND ALL TRAVEL EXPENSES FOR AWARDEES FOR THE DAY BEFORE AND THE DAY AFTER THE EVENT.  CO-WORKERS AND FAMILY MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE.
3.  BY ALLOWING THE SUBMISSION OF THE AWARD APPLICATION, THE CANDIDATE AGREES TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH AWARDS CEREMONY EVENTS, LOCATED NEAR THEIR DUTY LOCATION.  IF THERE IS AN AWARDS CEREMONY, REQUEST ANY PHOTOGRAPHS, VIDEOTAPES, MEDIA MATERIAL, AND SOUND RECORDINGS BE PROVIDED TO OSD SAPRO FOR GENERAL USE WITH THE PRESS AND TO POST ON THE SAPRO WEBSITE.
4.  ALL NOMINEES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
A.  ANONYMOUS NOMINATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
B.  NOMINEES MAY BE MILITARY OR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CIVILIANS.
C.  NOMINEES MUST BE CERTIFIED THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE SEXUAL ASSAULT ADVOCATE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (D-SAACP).
D.  NOMINATED INDIVIDUALS MUST BE APPOINTED IN WRITING AND SERVING AS THE SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE COORDINATOR.
5.  THE EMAILED SUBMISSION SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
A.  NOMINEE'S FULL NAME, OFFICE AND CELL PHONE NUMBERS, AND E-MAIL ADDRESS.
B.  DIGITAL (.JPG FORMAT) HEAD AND SHOULDER COLOR PHOTOGRAPH OF THE NOMINEE.
C.  THE NARRATIVE SHOULD BE NO LONGER THAN TWO SINGLE-SPACED, 8.5" X 11" PAGES, 1 MARGIN, AND 12-POINT FONT. ALL ACRONYMS MUST BE SPELLED OUT AND IT SHOULD INCLUDE THE SUBMITTERS NAME, TITLE, AFFILIATION, EMAIL AND MAILING ADDRESSES TO BE USED IN THE EVENT THAT THE AWARD REVIEWERS HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE NARRATIVE.  THE NARRATIVE SHOULD INCLUDE AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE ABOUT THE NOMINEE'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND SERVICES IN SUPPORTING THE SAPR PROGRAM AND/OR VICTIMS.  QUESTIONS SUCH AS THE FOLLOWING SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS APPROPRIATE:
(1) WHAT HAS THE NOMINEE ACCOMPLISHED ON BEHALF OF SERVICE MEMBERS TO INCLUDE TRAINING OR EDUCATION OF SERVICE MEMBERS IN THE EVENT OF A SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND HOW ARE THOSE ACCOMPLISHMENTS UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL?
(2) WHAT HAS THE NOMINEE ACCOMPLISHED ON BEHALF OF SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS, AND HOW ARE THOSE ACCOMPLISHMENTS UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL?
(3) HOW HAS THE NOMINEE'S SERVICE OR PROGRAM AFFECTED THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, THE MILITARY SERVICE OR ORGANIZATION, INSTALLATION AND/OR UNIT?
(4) HOW HAVE THE ACTIONS OF THE NOMINEE INFLUENCED ATTITUDES, POLICIES, OR PRACTICES IN VICTIM SERVICES?
(5) HOW HAS THE NOMINEE'S WORK BROUGHT ABOUT CHANGE IN NEW OR NONTRADITIONAL AREAS OF VICTIMS' ASSISTANCE WITHIN THE MILITARY ENVIRONMENT?
(6) HOW HAVE THE NOMINEE'S EFFORTS CONTRIBUTED TO BRINGING CLOSER COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE SARC AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE TEAM?
D.  SINGLE-SPACED BIOGRAPHY (NOT TO EXCEED ONE PAGE WITH SAME FORMATTING AS NARRATIVE) OF THE NOMINEE.
E.  CITATION, NOT TO EXCEED TWELVE LINES HIGHLIGHTING THE NOMINEES ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND THE PAGE ORIENTATION IS LANDSCAPE. AN EXAMPLE CAN BE REQUESTED FROM MFB.
F.  WHILE NOT REQUIRED, THE REVIEW COMMITTEE WILL CONSIDER ADDITIONAL DATA ABOUT THE NOMINEE OR PROGRAM THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED IN THE REVIEW PROCESS.  EXAMPLES ARE ARTICLES OR PRODUCTS CREATED BY THE CANDIDATE WHICH HAVE BEEN REFERENCED IN THE NARRATIVE.
G.  ENDORSEMENT BY THE FIRST GENERAL OFFICER IN THE CHAIN OF COMMAND IS REQUIRED.  ENDORSEMENT ABOVE THE FIRST GENERAL OFFICER IS NOT NECESSARY.
