GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. THE 5210 HEALTHY MILITARY CHILDREN 5210 (HMC) IS THE DIRECT RESULT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE CHILD OBESITY PREVENTION WORKING GROUP REPORT, WHICH IDENTIFIED THE NEED FOR AN INCREASE IN CONSISTENT HEALTH PROMOTION MESSAGING ACROSS THE DOD.
2. THE MNEMONIC "5210" REPRESENTS THE EVIDENCE INFORMED RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HEALTHY BEHAVIORS THAT CHILDREN SHOULD ACHIEVE EVERYDAY: 5 OR MORE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, 2 HOURS OR LESS OF SCREEN TIME, 1 HOUR OR MORE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, 0 SWEETENED BEVERAGES.
3. THE 5210 HMC IS A COMMUNITY-WIDE MESSAGING CAMPAIGN DESIGNED TO PROMOTE THESE CENTRAL CONCEPTS WHERE FAMILIES WORK, LIVE, AND PLAY.
4. THE SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE 5210HMC MESSAGING CAMPAIGN IS DEPENDENT ON FULL PARTICIPATION OF ALL STAKEHOLDERS. STAKEHOLDERS INCLUDE FAMILIES, ALL CHILDCARE PROVIDERS, YOUTH CENTERS, FITNESS CENTERS, RECREATION CENTERS, COMMUNITY CENTERS, WORKPLACES, LEADERSHIP, DODEA SCHOOLS, COMMISSARIES, HEALTHCARE FACILITIES, AND RESTAURANTS.
