GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This MARADMIN provides guidance regarding Marine Corps general officer (GO), Senior Executive Service (SES) members, and sergeants major (SgtsMaj) travel as guests of honor for 2015 Marine Corps Birthday Ball Celebrations.
2. Due to our current fiscal environment, GOs, SES Members, and SgtsMaj should minimize travel in support of guest of honor participation in Marine Corps Birthday Balls. Commands/Units/Organizations requesting guests of honor to attend birthday balls should request appropriate representatives from the local area.
3. Guests of honor travel outside the local area requires approval and determination of mission criticality from the Director of Marine Corps Staff (DMCS) or the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps (ACMC). Such out of local area travel should be undertaken in coordination with other mission related duties.
4. Government funded spousal travel will be considered on a case by case basis and shall be routed through the Counsel for the Commandant’s (CL) office to the DMCS and submitted in accordance with reference a.
5. Exceptions to this policy require approval from the ACMC via the DMCS. References b through d outline regulations for participation, funding, and travel in support of birthday balls and ceremonial events.
6. Point of contact is Mrs. Hattie Powell-Ray at commercial (703) 692-1528, DSN 222-1528 or e-mail: hattie.powell-ray(at)usmc.mil.
