GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Purpose. This MARADMIN provides updates to the Career Intermission Pilot Program.
2. From this point forward, the Career Intermission Pilot Program will be referred to as the Career Intermission Program (CIP).
3. Replace background paragraph from ref (A) with the following; “background. Ref (A) established the Marine Corps CIP which allows active component officers and enlisted Marines to be temporarily released from active duty and appointed or reenlisted into the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR). Section 522 of ref (B) extended authorization to implement a CIP through 2019. Under this program, service members will retain certain active duty benefits and shall return to active duty at the end of the inactive duty period. This program is limited by law to the selection of no more than 20 officers and 20 enlisted participants per calendar year through 2019. Per ref (B), no member of the armed forces may be released from active duty under CIP after December 31, 2019 or reactivated to active duty in the armed forces under CIP after December 31, 2022.”
4. Append the following criteria to the list under paragraph (7) ineligibility of ref (A). (O)Restricted officers are ineligible for CIP.
