RMKS/1.  The Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration has published Marine Corps Warfighting Publication (MCWP) 2-25, Ground Reconnaissance Operations, dated 25 Nov 2015.  MCWP 2-25 is available for download via the United States Marine Corps doctrine Website at https:(slant)(slant)www.doctrine.usmc.mil.
2.  Background
    a.  MCWP 2-25, Ground Reconnaissance Operations, establishes doctrine and tactics, techniques, and procedures for Marine Corps ground reconnaissance.  Reconnaissance is an essential, continuous function conducted by the commander to collect information about the battlespace and the enemy.  Of all the possible means of gaining such information, ground reconnaissance offers the advantage of placing human eyes and other sensors into the area of operations or on the target.
    b.  This publication is primarily written for United States Marine Corps reconnaissance battalions, force reconnaissance companies, the reconnaissance training company, and other various Marine Corps units with similar core mission sets.
3.  Coordinating instructions.  Reference (A) details steps required to request publication hard copies; however, this publication will be disseminated via electronic distribution only, unless commanders submit compelling needs justification for printed copies.  Units requiring print allocations must follow procedures identified in reference (A), paragraph 4A(2).  For Marine Corps Publication Distribution System (MCPDS) identification purposes, the publication control number is 143 000061 00.
