GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Per the reference and after having solicited and received nominations, the Office of United States Marine Corps Communication (OUSMCC) convened a board on 13 November 2015 to select recipients of the fiscal year 2015 Marine Corps Musician and Staff Noncommissioned Officer (SNCO) Musician of the Year awards. Congratulations to the following Marines on their selection for these awards.
   a. The Musician of the Year Award: Sergeant Mardia A. Tompo, Navy School of Music, for her significant contributions made to her unit and to the United States Marine Corps. Sgt Tompo’s selection was due in large part to her training and mentorship of Marines, continued high level of physical fitness and her achieving a level of instrumental performance which far exceeds her current rank.
   b. The SNCO Musician of the Year Award: Staff Sergeant Alexander J. Panos, 1st Marine Division Band, for his significant contributions made to his unit and to the United States Marine Corps. Staff Sergeant Panos’ selection was due in large part to his mentorship of Marines, leadership within the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, and maintaining a level of proficiency in the top 2 percent of his occupational field.
2. All award nominees are commended for their noteworthy contributions throughout the year.
3. Sergeant Tompo and Staff Sergeant Panos will be formally recognized at an awards ceremony on 16 March 2016 during the annual Marine Corps Music leadership symposium in Norfolk, Virginia. OUSMCC will fund (accompanying guests excluded) their transportation to and from Norfolk, accommodations, and meals. Uniform for the awards ceremony is Desert Marine Pattern Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform. Request parent command coordinate travel requirements and address any questions to the above point of contact.
4. Release authorized by Colonel James F. Glynn, Director, OUSMCC//
