GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This message announces the schedule and submission criteria for the Marine Corps Awards for Logistics Excellence 2016.
2. Background. The Marine Corps annually recognizes the outstanding logistics achievements of Individual Marines, Civilian Marines, Marine Logistics Organizations, and Teams. Accordingly, the four award categories are:
2.a. First Lieutenant Travis Manion Marine Corps Officer Logistician of the Year
2.b. Marine Corps Enlisted Logistician of the Year
2.c. Marine Corps Civilian Logistician of the Year
2.d. Marine Corps Logistics Organization/Team of the Year
3. The reference contains pertinent information regarding eligibility criteria, nomination dates, and selection procedures for each award. Example nomination packages can be provided by the point of contact listed above.
4. Marine Corps Installations Command (MCICOM), Marine Corps Logistics Command (MARCORLOGCOM), Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC), Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM, Training and Education Command (TECOM), Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC), and each Deputy Commandant and Marine Forces (MARFOR) can submit one nomination for each award.
5. Selection of the recipient of each award will be made by an awards board comprised of members from Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) Installations and Logistics (I&L) and will be presented in March of 2016 at the Marine Corps Awards for Logistics Excellence Dinner, Crystal Gateway Marriott, 1700 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia. Announcement of the award recipients and ceremony details will be provided via separate correspondence.
6. Action.
6.a. Commands with personnel or organizations that meet the criteria contained in the reference are encouraged to submit nomination packages through their chain of command.
6.b. All organizations will submit award recommendations electronically. In cases of multiple awards, each award package shall be transmitted via separate email. All award packages will be emailed to the I&L organizational mailbox: I&L_Award_Nominations (at) usmc.mil. Additionally, the sender will courtesy copy this message’s point of contact in the email. Ensure the subject line identifies the nominees’ full name, rank, and prospective award. Original nomination packages must be received by HQMC (I&L, LPC-3), on or before 5 January 2016. Nomination package formats are found in the enclosures to reference (a).
Late or incomplete packages and those not endorsed by their higher headquarters listed in paragraph 4 will not be considered.
6.c. Commands are responsible for ensuring that their nominations arrive at HQMC (I&L) no later than 5 January 2016. In absence of electronic submissions, mailed packages can be sent via traceable means (e.g., certified mail), to: Installations and Logistics, Headquarters U.S. Marine Corps (I&L), 3000 Marine Corps Pentagon, Room 2E211, Washington, DC 20350-3000.
