GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. The Wounded Warrior Regiment's (WWR) Warrior Athlete Reconditioning Program (WAR-P) continues to promote the health and wellness of Wounded, Ill, or Injured (WII) Marines through competitive athletics.
2. The purpose of this MARADMIN is to seek applications for the 2016 Marine Corps Trials (MCT) aboard Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, CA, which will be held from 28 February to 10 March 2016. The MCT are organized to execute athletic competition and select the 2016 All-Marine Warrior Games -Team for participation at the 2016 Department of Defense (DoD) Warrior Games hosted by the United States Army at West Point, New York, 12-22 June 2016.
3. Participating athletes are WII active, reserve, veteran Marines and Sailors that have served with Marine units. This includes, but is not limited to Marines recovering from or adapting to medical impairments such as amputation, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress, visual impairment, or cancer.
3a. Marines and Sailors of all levels of ability, from beginner to advanced are encouraged to register. Marine and Sailor injuries do not have to be combat related to participate in the MCT.
3b. MCT will consist of two teams (East and West). Marines not assigned to a Wounded Warrior unit will be assigned to the East or West team based on their geographic location. This MARADMIN is directed towards those Marines and Sailors not assigned to the WWR.
4. Athletes interested in participating shall email wwsports@usmc.mil for more information.
4a. Athletes requesting registration must secure a command endorsement stating the Marine or Sailor will be available to attend.
4b. Registration must contain medical endorsement that is current within six months of the first day of the MCT stating the Marine or Sailor is physically and mentally capable to participate, noting any physical limitations. The medical endorsement is available by contacting wwsports(at)usmc.mil. This endorsement shall be forwarded to wwsports@usmc.mil via encrypted email.
4c. All participation requests must be received by WWR NLT 29 January 2016. Contact the WAR-P office 703-432-1225, or wwsports(at)usmc.mil with any issues regarding registration.
4d. Participant request will be screened and those invited to attend will be notified NLT 5 February 2016.
4e. For those selected and approved by parent command to attend, active duty TAD orders will be generated by the local commands and funded by WWR. Dates of travel are 28 February - 10 March 2016 to MCB, Camp Pendleton, CA. Government lodging and meals are directed. Billeting including ADA-compliant rooms for those who require it, will be arranged by WWR.
4f. MCT participation is highly encouraged for all WII Marines and Sailors. The 2016 MCT will serve as the selection event for the 2016 Warrior Games Team.
