GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The FY17 USMC Major nominations were confirmed by the Senate on 28 Jan 2016.  Officers with select numbers 1-184 per ref (a) will be promoted effective 1 Feb 2016 providing they meet the requirements of exemplary conduct as outlined in 10 USC 5947.  Anticipate release of promotion MARADMIN in mid-February.  This message is not the authority to promote.
2.  Officers with selection numbers 1-184 and contemplating declining promotion should contact MMPR-1 immediately upon release of this msg.  Officers who will officially decline promotion will have 72 hours to notify this office from the publish date of the promotion MARADMIN authorizing their promotion.
