GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Purpose.  To announce the new member selection for the Calendar Year 2016 through 2018 MCRPB.
2.  Background.  The MCRPB is established per reference (a) to make recommendations to the Secretary of the Navy on matters that affect the readiness, mobilization, and deployment capability of the Marine Corps Reserve.  The MCRPB is required by law to meet annually in Washington, DC for one week, and at various other locations for shorter periods of time.  Membership of the MCRPB is appointed to provide for a broad representation of the Marine Corps Ready Reserve and Regular Forces.  The board Consists of a total of 18 members, 14 Officers, and 4 Enlisted.  Reference (b) contains additional information regarding the eligibility criteria for new members.
3.  Primary Selections.  The Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs) has approved the primary selection of LtCol Sean N. Day, LtCol Kyle J. Moore, LtCol Raymond L. Adams, and Maj Timothy R. Newkirk to the MCRPB for the term specified in the convening message, or for a period as extended by the appropriate authority, but not to exceed three calendar years starting CY16.
4.  Alternate Selections.  The Assistant Secretary ofThe Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs) has approved the alternate selection of Col Timothy L. Adams, Maj Michael A. Hunzeker, Maj Bevin J. Keen, and 1stSgt Scott A. Barnett. The alternate selectees will serve in the event that the primary is unavailable to serve, or if an unplanned vacancy occurs on the board prior to the convening of the next regularly scheduled selection board.
5.  Competition for this board was exceptionally keen.  The fifty Officers and Senior Enlisted competing for four vacancies represented the best and brightest within the unrestricted Reserve community.  All applicants not selected are encouraged to apply again for the Calendar Year 2017 through 2019 MCRPB.
