GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Congratulations to all the nominees for the 2015 Marine Corps Communications Awards Program (MCCAP).
2. The MCCAP recognizes distinguished performance of individuals and a unit/organization within the Operating Forces (OPFOR), Supporting Establishment (SE), and Marine Corps Reserve, who have made significant contributions to the Command, Control, Communications, And Computers (C4) community and embody the Marine Corps core values of honor, courage, and commitment. The below recipients were selected from a highly competitive group of Marine and Civilian Marine nominees.
3. I am pleased to announce the following 2015 MCCAP selectees:
3.A. General Alfred M. Gray Trophy for outstanding communications leadership: Captain Richard S. Clay, G-6 Operations, Marine Forces Europe/Africa. The Gray Trophy honors a Marine Captain for outstanding contributions to the Marine Corps communications mission.
3.B. James Hamilton Information Technology Management Civilian Marine of the Year Award: Mr. Niklas P. Mecchi-Ericson, Regional Network Operations and Security Center Pacific, Marine Forces Pacific. The Hamilton Award recognizes a Civilian Marine who performed special acts of noteworthy leadership and technological innovation in the area of information technology management.
3.C. PFC Herbert A. Littleton Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) Trophy for Operational Communications Excellence:
Sergeant Jonathan E. Hanna, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18, Marine Air Control Group 18, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Forces Pacific. This award recognizes outstanding contributions of an NCO performing operational communications duties in support of the Marine Corps operational communications mission.
3.D. PFC Herbert A. Littleton NCO Trophy for Electronic Maintenance Excellence: Sergeant Christopher J. Burkard, Communications Company, Headquarters Regiment, 2d Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Forces Command. This award recognizes outstanding contributions of an NCO performing electronic maintenance duties in support of the Marine Corps operational communications mission.
3.E. PFC Herbert A. Littleton Staff Noncommissioned Officer (SNCO) Trophy for Operational Communications Excellence: Staff Sergeant Casey A. McCarthy, Operations Division, Marine Corps Network Operations and Security Center, Marine Forces Cyber Command. This award recognizes outstanding contributions of a SNCO performing operational communications duties in support of the Marine Corps operational communications mission.
3.F. PFC Herbert A. Littleton SNCO Trophy for Electronic Maintenance Excellence: Staff Sergeant John W. Candler, Communications Company, Headquarters Regiment, 3d Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Forces Pacific. This award recognizes outstanding contributions of a SNCO performing electronic maintenance duties in support of the Marine Corps operational communications mission.
3.G. Lieutenant Colonel Kevin M. Shea Memorial Unit of the Year Award: Communications Platoon, 4th Marine Regiment, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Forces Pacific. This award recognizes the Marine Corps communications or information technology unit that has distinguished itself by making the most outstanding contributions to the Marine Corps C4 field.
4. The MCCAP selectees will be honored at the Thirteenth Annual Marine Corps Association and Foundation (MCAF) C4 Awards Dinner on 21 April 2016 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, 1700 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA.
4.A. Dress is civilian informal (coat and tie) for attendees, service alphas for speakers and award winners. Dinner cost is 45 dollars per person for MCAF members and 65 dollars per person for non-MCAF members. Active duty Marines may attend at no cost, but must register to receive free entrance to the dinner. Attendees must make reservations via the Marine Corps Association website at www.mca-marines.org, select programs/events and select register/view schedule of events to register, or contact Sarah Cohen at 703-640-0174 or s.cohen(at)mca-marines.org.
Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) C4 is not involved in the reservation process; however, should anyone encounter any problems, please contact the HQMC C4 POCs above for assistance.
4.B. HQMC C4 will provide travel and hotel funding for award recipients to attend the ceremony; MCAF will provide travel and hotel funding for one non-DoD relative or friend of each award recipient to attend the ceremony. HQMC C4 and MCAF will provide travel coordinating instructions via separate correspondence.
