2.  Background
    a.  Marine Corps Reference Publication 4-11.1F is a multi-Service reference publication that establishes doctrinal MTTPs for health service support (HSS) and toxic industrial material (TIM) environment.  The intent of this publication is to inform the combatant commanders, joint force commanders, joint force medical commanders and medical planners, component commanders, and their staffs, on the tools available to provide the best quality of HSS in a CBRN environment to enhance mission success.  This publication bridges the gaps between Service and joint HSS publications.  This publication required revision based upon years’ worth of lessons learned and force structure changes within the Marine Corps and the Navy.
    b.  This MCRP will guide Marine air-ground task force (MAGTF), Marine expeditionary unit (MEU), and health services during the planning.  It is consistent to the maximum extent possible with joint and multinational doctrine within the constraints of established higher-level doctrine.
3.  Coordinating Instructions.  Reference (a) details steps required to request publication hard copies, however, this publication will be disseminated via electronic distribution only unless commanders submit compelling needs justification for printed copies.  Units requiring print allocations must follow procedures identified in reference (a), paragraph 4a(2).  For MCPDS identification purposes, the publication control number is 144 000168 00.
