GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. In conjunction with the Army, Deputy Commandant, Combat Development and Integration, has published Army Techniques Publication (ATP) 3-34.81/Marine Corps Warfighting Publication (MCWP) 3-17.4, Engineer Reconnaissance, dated 01 March 2016. MCWP 3-17.4 is available for download via the United States Marine Corps doctrine website at https:(slant)(slant)www.doctrine.usmc.mil.
2. Background. ATP 3-34.81/MCWP 3-17.4, is an existing dual-Service publication that serves as reference for commanders and staff, Marine air-ground task force (MAGTF) engineer units, and training developers. As the lead Service for this publication, the United States Army conducted a review in accordance with Army Doctrine 2015 campaign plan guidance. The Marine Corps participated in this review, consistent with the Army’s published timeline. The reviewed and revised publication provides critically needed techniques for planning and executing engineer reconnaissance. The publication is also a valuable reference for Marine Corps formal schools and combat developers.
3. Coordinating Instructions. Reference (a) details steps required to request publication hard copies. For Marine Corps Publication Distribution System (MCPDS) ordering purposes, the publication control number is 143 000156 00. Hard copies of this publication should be available for ordering via MCPDS within 10 to 12 weeks of the date of this MARADMIN. Upon stockage at Albany, the publication date in MCPDS will change from the outdated date of March 2008 to the current date of 01 March 2016.
