NARR/REF A IS THE MARINE CORPS TRAVEL INSTRUCTION MANUAL (MCTIM)//
POC/GYSGT MARIA DIAZ/RFF/TEL: (703)432-9135(DSN 378)//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Purpose. To publish guidance for PCS travel claims for Marines separating/retiring from the Marine Corps.
2. Background. In FY15, 70 percent of the Marines who retired/separated from the Corps failed to submit their final separation travel claim when they reached their home of selection/home of record. However, those Marines that did submit a separation travel claim received on average over $2,300 in travel entitlements.
3. Discussion. The Marine Corps can better serve our Marines and their families by properly advising them of their travel entitlements as they separate/retire from the Marine Corps.
4. Action. Effective immediately, Disbursing/Finance Officers will work with the supporting Installation Personnel Administrative Center (IPAC) or stand-alone admin reporting unit to ensure all separating and retiring Marines are provided an estimate of their final separation travel entitlements prior to departing on Leave While Awaiting Separation (LWAS) and are also provided the DD Form 1351-2 travel claim and instructions for completing this form. A YouTube video providing step by step instructions on how to properly complete and submit a separation travel claim is also available at https:(forward slash)(forward slash) www.youtube.com(forward slash)watch?v=KQZqe3WHgMI
5. Reference A is being modified to reflect this updated guidance.
6. Request widest dissemination of this information.
7. Release authorized by LtGen Walters, Deputy Commandant, Programs and Resources.//
