GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Background: Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG) Recruiting, Advertising, and Screening Team (RAST) and MMEA-25 (SDA monitor unit) will be conducting directed screenings to identify highly qualified Marines to serve as Marine Security Guard (MSG) Watch-standers. MCESG and MMEA-25 will conduct screening of Marines for assignment to MSG classes 2-17 (2 Jan – 24 Feb 17) and 3-17 (12 Mar – 5 May 17). A second round of screenings for classes 4-17 and 5-17 will be conducted early in the next calander year.
2. MMEA-25, in coordination with the Primary Military Occupational Specialty (PMOS) monitors, have identified Marines for screening and potential assignment to MSG classes during FY17. The detailed list will be distributed to career planners via the Total Force Retention System (TFRS).
3. Commanding Officers, Sergeants Major, and Career Planners are directed to ensure that all Marines listed are directed to immediately initiate and complete MSG Phase 1 screenings located within ref (a). All Phase 1 screenings will consist of the following: the Commanding Officers screening/interview - MSG duty checklist and financial worksheet, security clearance letter, and tattoo screening request (if applicable). Marines who are not listed to be screened but who wish to volunteer for the MSG program may also complete the Phase 1 screening and submit their Reenlistment, Extension, Lateral-Move (RELM) via TFRS. RELM request submissions into TFRS are due no later than 20 Sep 16. Married sergeants are no longer being assigned to the Marine Security Guard Augmentation Unit.
4. Commanding Officers are asked to state that all requirements needed for promotion for all Marines applying for MSG duty have been met. This summary will be noted during the final phase of their MSG Recertification Screening.
5. No specific command visit will be conducted in conjunction with this screening. The RAST will conduct telephonic interviews 23 Sep 16 – 21 Oct 16 with all Marines identified. Confirmed and reliable points of contact/phone numbers are required within the TFRS package.
6. After successfully completing screening, Marines who volunteer for the MSG program will be immediately issued a draw case code and issued permanent change of station orders to MSG school. Marines who are qualified, but do not volunteer, will be direct assigned to the MSG program based on the needs of the Marine Corps.
7. Release authorized by MajGen Craig Q. Timberlake, Director, Manpower Management Division.//
