GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Situation.  This MARADMIN serves to remind eligible Marines that Marine Corps University (MCU) will be hosting Cornerstone:  The Commandants Combined Commandership Course from 17 through 28 October 2016 and from 24 April through 5 May 2017 at the Gray Research Center located on Marine Corps Base Quantico.
2.  Registration.
2.A  Registration is on a first come, first served basis.  Registration for the FY17-1 course closes at 1600 EDT Friday, 7 October 2016.  Registration for FY17-2 course closes at 1600 EDT Friday, 31 March 2017.  Attendance is mandatory for Commanders and Sergeants Major either prior to or shortly after arriving at their new command. Attendance for spouses, while not required, is encouraged.
2.B  Quotas are as follows:  A maximum of 40 Colonel level Commanders, 100 Lieutenant Colonel level Commanders, 50 Sergeants Major, and 100 spouses per course.  Once quotas are reached, registrations will no longer be accepted and eligible Marines will need to wait until the next fiscal year to attend the course.  It is highly encouraged that all eligible Marines register as soon as possible.  Registration details are contained in MARADMIN 418/16.
2.C  Over the past several years, Cornerstone courses have been conducted in January through February and April through May timeframes.  The January through February course has experienced inclement weather over the past two years, leading to the decision to conduct the course in October.  Marines required to register for Cornerstone are strongly encouraged to attend the October 2016 course due to anticipated limited availability of quotas for the spring course.  Once maximum capacity has been reached for the spring course, participants will be required to attend the October FY17-1 or October FY18-1 course.
