GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Congratulations to the 2016 Logistics Innovation Challenge winners. Exceeding expectations, over 300 innovative proposals were submitted by Marines, Sailors, and Civilians across the Marine Corps. The Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics (DC, IL) and the sponsor government labs were extremely impressed by the quality and ingenuity of the submissions. The chosen winners will now have the opportunity to mature their ideas toward a fielded capability with the sponsoring labs.
2. All submissions, even those not selected as winners, have been categorized and will be delivered to the appropriate Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) stakeholders for consideration. Challenge winners will have the opportunity to prototype, experiment, and implement their idea by working directly with a government-affiliated research lab. Challenge winners will also have an opportunity to interact with Senior Marine Corps leaders to discuss their ideas and how to implement them.
3. Following this initial notification, the Challenge winners will be contacted by the DC, IL team to arrange for an initial teleconference meeting with their sponsoring lab. During this initial meeting, the idea will be refined and a plan will be developed for the Challenge winner to travel to the lab for initial prototype development. Upon completion of prototype development, the DC, IL team will assist in potential experimentation at the Challenge winners unit. The DC, IL team will then collect experiment results and work with the appropriate HQMC stakeholders for potential transition and implementation of the idea.
