GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. The purpose of this MARADMIN is to announce the provisions and billet vacancies for the FY17 AMOI/OCS program, and to solicit applications from qualified Marines.
2. Based on the recent review of Marine Corps billets that require an AMOI/OCS instructor, the FY17 AMOI/OCS selection board will accept applications for the following immediate vacancies and anticipated vacancies.

5. In addition to the AMOI/OCS billets listed in para 3, other billet vacancies may become available prior to the convening of the selection board. The additional billets will result from the selection for promotion from the FY17 Sergeant Major through Master Sergeant selection board of those Marines currently on AMOI duty. Additional vacancies will be announced via separate correspondence.
6. In addition to the eligibility requirements contained in the reference, Marines applying for the AMOI program must meet the following criteria:
6.a. Regular active duty Marines in the grade of Staff Sergeant through Master Sergeant.
6.b. Possess the Additional Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 0911 (Drill Instructor).
6.c. Possess a minimum General Technical score of 100.
6.d. Meet height and weight standards or be within body fat standards.
6.e. Possess a current first class Physical Fitness Test score at the time of submission.
6.f. Served a minimum of 36 months in Primary MOS since last tour in billet MOS 0911 at estimated date of departure. Waiverable to 2 years based upon the needs of the Marine Corps.
6.g. Have 3 years Time On Station (TOS) by May of 2017, in accordance with reference (b), waiverable to 2 years based upon the needs of the Marine Corps. Marines requesting assignment to the same geographic location, with a minimum of 2 years TOS by May of 2017, will be considered.
6.h. Meet requirements in accordance with the Independent Duty Checklist, listed in reference (a).
6.i. Qualified applicants must be able to execute a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move to report no later than 15 May 2017 or sooner.
7. Restrictions:
7.a. Marines serving at an overseas location will be required to complete the prescribed overseas tour length prior to reporting to their assignment in the Continental United States, in accordance with reference (b).
7.b. Marines selected for this program must complete at least 2 years of their AMOI tour prior to transferring to the Fleet Marine Corps Reserve (FMCR).
7.c. Marines must be in compliance with the current Marine Corps Tattoo Policy, listed in reference (c).
7.d. Marines selected for this program are required to support the summer augmentation program at OCS, Quantico, VA during the summer months.
7.e. Marines must be willing to accept assignment to any AMOI/OCS vacancy listed in the MARADMIN.
8. Applications with attachments must be submitted electronically using the Special Duty Assignment request in the Total Force Retention System (TFRS) to CMC (MMEA-25) via the normal Reenlistment Extension Lateral Move (RELM) routing chain. Unit Career Planners have access to the TFRS program. The enclosures to the RELM will contain the following:
8.a. Administrative Action (AA) form.
8.b. Independent Duty Checklist.
8.c. Current promotion style photo less than 6 months old.
8.d. If applying for consideration to fill immediate vacancy billets listed in para 4, list the billet preference in order of precedence (1-2) on the AA form.
8.e. For all other anticipated vacancies, list in current order of precedence (1-30) the billets for which applying.
8.f. Packages must include dates served on Drill Instructor Duty. Gunnery Sergeants must annotate their promotion preference (M or F).
9. Commanding Officers will ensure that each application is carefully reviewed and that all required information has been included.
10. Timelines.
10.a. The FY17 AMOI/OCS board for immediate vacancies listed in para 4 is scheduled to convene at Headquarters Marine Corps on or about 5 October 2016. Applications for immediate vacancies must be forwarded to CMC (MMEA-25) to arrive no later than (NLT) 2359 3 October 2016.
10.b. The board for all remaining anticipated billets listed in para 5 is scheduled to convene on or about 16 November 2016. Applications for remaining anticipated vacancies must arrive NLT 2359 9 November 2016. Late applications will not be accepted.
11. Commanding Officers, Sergeants Major, and Career Planners are encouraged to disseminate the contents of this MARADMIN to all eligible Staff Non-Commissioned Officers within their command.
12. This MARADMIN is not applicable to the Marine Corps Reserve.
