GENTEXT RMKS/1.  Per reference (a), all serious mishaps (Class A and B) and non-combat deaths not due to morbidity (natural causes), including suicides and criminal activity, require an 8-day brief.  This brief shall be sent from the first general officer in the chain of command to the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps (ACMC) via encrypted email no later than the 8th day following the incident. 
2.  The 8-day brief is for official use only and contains Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI) and shall be safeguarded and handled accordingly.  This brief constitutes general officer pre-decisional communications and shall not be released or included in any other reports without coordination with the originating general officer or the ACMC.  All Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for 8-day briefs will be forwarded to HQMC FOIA office for review and concurrence prior to release by the local FOIA office.
3.  Effective immediately, suicide attempts verified by qualified medical personnel require an 8-day brief.
4.  Reference (b) lists the courtesy copy recipients for 8-day briefs by event type.  This MARADMIN cancels reference (b).  The updated courtesy copy distribution list is as follows: 
4.a.  For all 8-day briefs, courtesy copy:
4.a.1.  LtCol Andrew Priddy, Senior Aide to the CMC.
4.a.2.  Col William Bowers, Military Assistant to the ACMC.
4.a.3.  Col Joseph Williams, Director of CMC (Safety Division).
4.a.4.  MajGen Burke Whitman, Director of Marine and Family Programs Division, M&RA.
4.a.5.  RDML Stephen Pachuta, Medical Officer of the Marine Corps.
4.a.6.  SgtMaj Ronald Green, SgtMaj of the Marine Corps.
4.a.7.  MGySgt Steven Hunt, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the SMMC.
4.b.  For specific 8-day event types, the following personnel shall also be courtesy copied:
4.b.1.  For Aviation mishaps, LtGen Jon Davis, Deputy Commandant for Aviation.
4.b.2.  For suicides and attempted suicides, RDML Brent Scott, Chaplain of the Marine Corps.
4.b.3.  For medical events, RDML Brent Scott, Chaplain of the Marine Corps.
4.c.  For on-duty operations and training 8-day briefs:
4.c.1.  LtGen Ronald Bailey, Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies, and Operations.
4.c.2.  MajGen James Lukeman, Commanding General, Training and Education Command.
4.c.3.  For on-duty mishaps pertaining to Ground Equipment and Weapon Systems, BGen Joseph Shrader, Commander, Marine Corps Systems Command.

5.a.  The new suicide event template shall be used for all suicides and attempted suicides.
5.b.  The new aviation event template shall be used for all Class A and B aviation mishaps.
5.c.  The new all other event template shall be used for all other events.
6.  The aviation 14-day back brief requirement to the Deputy Commandant for Aviation found in reference (a) is hereby cancelled.
