MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CENTER TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. -- Excited families and eager friends welcomed home 7th Regiment Marines and sailors at Victory Park Thursday. Members of the ‘Magnificent Seventh’ deployed as part of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Central Command 17.1.
SPMAGTF-CR-CC conducts crisis response, contingency operations, theater security cooperation, enabling operations and all other missions as may be directed throughout the U.S. Central Command area of operations in order to support CENTCOM requirements. 7th Marines served as the command element for SPMAGTF-CR-CC 17.1 throughout a nine-month deployment. As the command element, they were responsible for providing command and control for the SPMAGTF.
“We were busy the whole time,” said Lt. Col. Chris McGuire, operations officer, 7th Marines. “It was our hard work and dedication to mission accomplishment that made the operation an overall success.”
Working alongside McGuire was Col. William Vivian, commanding officer, 7th Marines, who has now completed his ninth deployment.
“We have a very talented team with a lot of amazing individual success,” Vivian said. “It’s always a very fulfilling experience to lead a MAGTF.”
