The Missfits, a men’s softball team combined of active-duty and retired Marines and one Department of Defense civilian, participated in the Military World’s Softball Tournament held in Panama City, Florida, Aug. 14-18.
The Missfits have been competing for three years in the tournament, which is part of the United States Specialty Sports Association Intramural League.

The team played five games, placing sixth in the tournament out of 27 teams, with a 3-2 record.

“Playing intramural softball is great for camaraderie, reuniting with fellow Marines located on other bases and getting the base recognition,” said Sgt. Deryl Stockton, the coach for the Missfits’. “Playing in this particular tournament was an awesome experience because the wounded warrior team was there and it was very humbling to watch them play the same sport that we play.”

The Missfits will compete in another Military World’s Softball Tournament in Valdosta, Georgia, Oct. 3-5.
