Marines from Cherry Point’s 2nd LAAD prepare a Stinger missile simulator prior to firing the weapon near 2nd LAAD’s Bravo Battery. The simulators launch a dummy projectile and imitate the use of an actual missile. Marines from the battalion participated in the exercise in order to become proficient at using the Stinger missile.

More than 15 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion Marines fired simulated Stinger missiles during a training exercise near 2nd LAAD’s Bravo Battery, Feb. 24. In total, the Marines fired 33 simulated Stinger missiles. 

According to Sgt. Rogelio Villanueva, a 2nd LAAD section leader, the training is held once a year.

Marines from the battalion participated in the exercise in order to become proficient at using the Stinger missile.
